Hello,

The reason your DVD player is not reading any disc is either because the lens is weak or bad.

If it is weak, it will be selecting discs, but if it is bad it will not recognize any disc at all.

In your case the lens is bad and need to be replaced.

Unplug the television and unscrew it open, then you will have direct access to the disc tray and lens, unscrew the disc tray and disconnect the lens from the ribbon that is connected to it and replace it with a new one then reverse the process to reassemble the player together.

You can first use a cotton bud to clean the old lens (the crystal or glass like tiny object clipped between a kind of plastic) and try to play a disc to see if it will recognize it.

The S Video cable and the two audio cables should be plugged into the same av input on your television. It sounds like the sound cables for your cable box or satellite tv box are plugged into the television where the two audio cables for the DVD player should be.

There are no default password to unlock the parental lock. If you've forgotten the password, it is required to perform the Easy Setup to reset the settings on the DVD Recorder. Please refer to page # 83 of the Recorder's manual to reset the Settings.

Check the GE website for owners manual and frequently ask questions form. They should have instructions on how to unlock your player. If not use the customer service number to get technical help with your problem.Hope this help you with your problem.

Stopped looking in the RCA website and did a google search for GE universal remote control codes. I found it there.

I had a similar problem on a different DVD player and found that if I plugged it into the TV the problem went away.

take it to a tech some one could have enterd a code by mistake.good luck
