Amp not putting out sound

About a week ago my amp stopped working. At first it would come on but the sound was low and static sounding. Then it worked fine for about 5 minutes. Now it does not put out sound at all. The red LED light stays on. Any suggestions?

This is not a problem that a normal comsumer should try to repair themselves. It's time to take it to a pro. It sounds like you have blown out at least one of your output channels. If you are getting any red light at all then the good news is that the power supply section of the amp is probably still good. About half of all the electronics in your amp is for the power supply section. The other half is for the actual amplifiers of the amp. Good luck, I hope it's not too bad.

I have a Alpine PDX 5 amp. No sound now. Worked fine last 4 yrs. No sound once 3 weeks ago. Then started working. Stopped again. Any ideas?

This is a sign of a poor soldering connection inside the amp. Unless you have technical skills in electronics and the needed test gear, you would be bettter sending it off for repairs.

Amp turns on but puts out no sound except for faint noise which dies out after a few seconds.

It sounds like a defective/incorrect AC-to-DC adapter may have caused your problem. These adapter come with different output voltages, AC or DC output and different amperage ratings. AC-to-DC adapters list the polarity of the DC voltage as it relates to the DC power plug and you must match both the devices voltage and power requirements. As for the amp...not working on batteries either, I would suspect output transistors or IC.

No sound on dell plasma television just squeaking noise

I have same problem, started with one speaker, then other, clicking, popping, static, and then nothing on one, and then the other. It is not the speakers, it is the audio amp board in most cases, but to stop noise, just unplug those speakers if you are using others through your audio outputs to amplified speakers. I have been doing this for weeks, and it works, but having replaced audi amp board once before, the replacement board only worked for a couple weeks, and it cost me $50.00 for a used one, so I would not advise that route unless you can find a new board.

Good luck

Bought amp 1 year ago, three months ago, no sound, Guitar Center said call an authorized repair shop. I did'n't open it up to check fuse because i didn't want to void the warranty. The shop replaced the...

Possible that the output tubes that were replaced are drawing too much current, hence the popping sound (may be "motorboating", one common word to describe a similar sound)

This means the tubes need to be biased properly. You need to get it to someone who knows what they are doing, ie a good amp tech, not GC. The voltages here are dangerous.

My laptop speakers aren't working. A few days ago I kept receiving a pop-up from SigmaTel which would freeze my computer but the message stopped. Now my speakers stopped working completely.

If you have a restore point of a week ago, backstep your machine to the restore point.

My Marshall 8040 has a sort of static sound. It started a week ago and I noticed that if I press the power cord hard into the amp, the static sound disappears. However, once I let go, the static returns....

Hi,

It sounds as if you need to replace the power cord or the power socket on your amplifier.
If you can get into the cord check to see if the connections are tight do the same on the socket.
I guess you have a faulty connection.

Volume low on all four speakers, some static (amp or head unit problem)

I would check the amp first, especially if you have very low sound on the speakers. Before amps were made, bad output transistors would create the same effect.

Kc550 keyboard amp stopped working

Hi....

I just opened one of those a couple weeks ago.

If I were checking it out I would test the speaker ( 4 ohms or 8 ohms)or find out if there's a speaker fuse from the power amp part.

It's worth getting fixed.

Let me know.

Amp light is on but doesn't put anything out to my subs

if you are sure its the amp. the problem is internal. but if your not sure, try a different stereo or source of sound to the inputs of the amp. if there is still no sound than it is the amplifier and it could be a number of things.
