SOURCE: I have a ge profile fridge model # PDS22SHRBRSS needing help

Yes, you have to cut the wiring as the instructions stated. Not all the models have to have wiring cut, so read carefully to see if yours is one that needs to have the wiring cut. If it is not, then you have another problem, and you will have to let us know what the origional problem was before you replaced the board. If your model requires cutting, you may have damaged the main board by not doing this. Unplug the refer and follow the instructions carefully and test to see if it works. Good luck, Appliance Specialists.

SOURCE: brought the GE WR55X10942 Refrigerator

Yes you will need to cut the wire the directions states all bottom freezer models and models with certain serial numbers... But you will not need to do other modifications specifically for bottom freezer only models.

Is GSS25JFPCC the correct model number? If yes and many other GE refrigerators that have a motherboard. The motherboard for your refrigerator is found on the back and is item location 801 found HERE If you would like to replace the=> WR55X10942 Main Control Board or here=> WR55X10942 Main Control Board
I can provide you a service manual and explain all the things to consider when replacing the board. Things like fan motors, compressor start relay/overload and run capacitor also need to be examined to prevent the new board from going bad. A fan motor can cause this if it shorts. Yours sounds like the compressor circuit on the board down to the compressor has shorted on the morher board. I am here if you would like my assistance, Sea Breeze

Ge profile freezer completely defrosts

If your GE model number is PSS26LSR then I would bet that you refrigerator is showing signs of a WR55X10942 Motherboard
1_25_2013_8_09_32_am.jpg

You also could have a condenser fan stopping and/or motherboard failure. On the back of the PSS26LSR there is a panel with the WR55X10942 Motherboard recessed in the back wall of the refrigerator. Can you unplug the power to the refrigerator and examine the board for swollen capacitors or burn marks? Sometimes the board will show no signs of being defective and still be the cause of why WR55X10942 Motherboard Either way I will be here to help you do this yourself if you like. Please let me know if you have questions, Thanks Sea Breeze

I am replacing a defective GE refrigerator main board (WR55X10416) in my GDS20SBSASS GE fridge with the newer WR5510942 main board. I have read elsewhere that a wire on this board may need to be cut,...

You should have included instructions that came with this board and the serial# is what dictates if a wire is cut or not on the main board. there also might be a wire on the harness that plugs into the wall that needs to be cut although I have yet to find one.

The provided link has pics of the instructions. just check your serial # to verify and follow the directions
