Gameshark n64 v3.0 will not start up

I just got a gameshark that is said to be working my n64, problem is that it will not work or start up, and the tv will remain on a blank screen that says no signal, everything is plugged it, my n64 works perfectly, the game im trying to use is The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, and I also have Majora's Mask, I was wondering if there is any solution in getting it to function, also, if i fiddle with it while its in the slot, sometimes the counter would come on but stay at 8 or something else, but still will not work, if there is a solution please let me know, thank you.

SOURCE: gameshark 3.2 trouble

If this is the cartridge type.. try cleaning the part where you insert it into the system, with a cue tip and rubbing alcohol. It's possible that it may have gunk in it. Let it dry before you put in the game.

This may help

GOD GARNED N64 GAMESHARK!

The original GameShark for the N64 only works on certain games. During the N64 era, game creators would often include code on the game itself that prevented the use of a GameShark. It is possible that you can find a newer version of the GameShark that would work with this so called "blocked" games, but it might be difficult.

I'm assuming that this is the GameShark Pro for the N64. If so, the button is used to find and create your own cheats, such as infinite life, infinite ammo, etc...

To use this feature, start the game, say a first person shooter, and load into a level and when you are ready to begin playing, press the button. The GameShark screen will show up and you can say "search for code" or "search for changes" something like that and the game shark will run a diagnostic that it shows on the screen. A number will appear noting the number of lines of code executed since the game loaded. When it is finished, press the button again and it will return you to the game exactly as you left it. If you are trying to get infinite ammo, simply shoot once and press the gameshark button again to search for codes again. When it is finished, the number it shows will be much smaller, since much less lines of code have executed since the last run. Press the gameshark button again to return to the game and continue the process until you have only a few, say 5 or less, or even just one code left on the gameshark diagnostic. This code will be the one that dictates the amount of ammo that you have. By altering this code with the gameshark, you can either start with an extremely high amount of ammo, or have infinite ammo entirely. The key to this strategy is to do as little as possible between code searches so that you can quickly narrow down on the code that you trying to alter. Hope this helps.

Nintendo 64 quit after using a gameshark

It might be Karma. Wait, super nintendo cartridges, you mean from the SNES? that might be the problem. Or it could have died from old age. you might try to buy another n64 without all of the cables, and just replace the one you have.

How does it work?

put in oe of the working games and go to keycodes hit the A button and you can scroll through a list of games that need keycodes. Select the game and then turn your N64 off and then put the game you selected in the gameshark and turn it back on, it should now work
