My laptop won't turn on

A few months ago, my laptop's battery was low, so I plugged it in and nothing happened, and it died. I tried to plug it in again and turn it on, and it just died again. I initally thought that it was the battery, so I ordered a new battery that just came today and when I put it it, my laptop turned on for about a min. and it died again. I have no idea what is going on, but I have many important files on my laptop which I need to recover. HELP ME!!

Do you have access to a multimeter? If so, check the voltage that is being put out by your power supply and make sure it matches the voltage that is supposed to be going out, typically around 19 v or so. It sounds like the power supply itself could be bad. If that is the case, then it is the DC connector in your computer that it attaches to.

My laptop is not switch on even i plugged in....

I was using my laptop just a few hours ago browsing Facebook, when my laptop just completely shut off instantly, and then wouldn't turn back on... the laptop was plugged in at the time.

The laptop shows no lights or anything indicating the laptop it plugged in like usual, and nothing at all happens when I press the power button.

I have tried plugging the laptop out, taking the battery out and holding the power button for 1 minute and plugging back in with no luck.

Also I should add that for about 2 months now ever since I installed Windows 7 I have been getting the message "Consider replacing your battery" and the battery hasn't been holding much of a charge, maybe 25-30 mins. But I don't know if this is the problem because shouldn't the laptop work as normal when plugged in?

My IBM A#! was working fine about an hour ago,

It could still be the battery. When my Dell's battery dies every 15 months or so, the system won't start.

I have a toshiba laptop, and in the last few weeks something weird started happening. When the laptop is plugged into the AC, the power meter in windows tells me that the power source is still batteries,...

Change your AC charger.
It's NOT charging "When the laptop is plugged into the AC, the power meter in windows tells me that the power source is still batteries, and the battery level drops by about 1% every few hours"
That's the reason why: "battery has completely died"
If you do not change it you'll continue to "still it gives me the same low battery indication and will not turn on. "

Battery power problem

The battery contains cells (about 12 batteries linked together, normally in groups of 3)
They will die just like any other rechargable battery will.
The main difference is if one individual cell dies, it can dramatically shorten the amount of power your overall battery holds.
Replacement batteries are easy to find, but they can be expensive. If you replace it, then anytime you intend on running the laptop from mains power for an extended period, remove the battery.
