My printer keeps showing an error "Front Cover open Close it" athough every cover is perfectly closed
Although every cover is perfectly closed it keeps giving the same error message. When I contacted dell they gave me a reply to change the printer rather than spending time and money on it with a dell technician. Is there a way this can be diagnosed.

The inner cover is a flap on the inside in front of the carriage when it is at rest when the cover us open. You had to flip the inner cover down to access the ink cartridges.
Open the cover. The inner cover is in the center and need to be flipped up.
Front cover is open Close the front cover of the printer. Fuser cover is open Close the fuser cover located behind the back cover of the printer. Paper jam Clear the paper jam. See Paper jams and how to clear them on page 85. If the printer does not start printing, press the Go button. Memory full The printer memory is full and the printer cannot print full pages of a document. See Solving print problems on page 97. Print overrun A print overrun occurred and the printer cannot print full pages of a document. See Solving print problems on page 97.
I had the same issue, turning off didn't solve it. There's a plastic flap the width of the print tray just inside that I flipped up and it solved this problem. It is directly in front of the ink tanks. I'm assuming we flipped it down and forgot about it. It seems it needs to stay up, although you wouldn't notice it when it flips down when you close the top, as it closes just fine with it down. It's easy to overlook. This took me a few hours to realize.
The top of the flap has a half circle cut out of it in the middle.
Sorry a little late only just read your problem. The location is not the bottom tray feeder but the disk tray. In settings change your media type to "Printable Disk" the paper scource should automatically change to "Disk Tray" and hopefully every thing will work OK.
Unplug the printer. Hold the printer cover open while you plug in the printer. Then wait for the printer to power on while still holding the cover open.
Then close the cover.
The buttons should work and th error message should be gone.
