You have to disable the region lock by installing a so called "mod chip". This is a microprocessor (PIC Micro) that is wired inside the PS" or othe game consoles. There should be stores in your place that offer this service. Here is are sample of mode chips: http://www.mod-chip.com/ You can also google for sites that give instructions on how to install the chip and where to buy it.

Chipped PS2 suddenly stopped reading

Hmmmmm...
That is strange how the boot-up sequence can change. When You bought it, it sounds like it got mod-chipped when you bought it. if are one on the techy side of life then you can open your ps2 and look for one (google mod chip). Also the chance of one being there is higher because it can play copied games. Even though you bought it with the copied games, 1) copied games are illegal, and , 2) PS2's shouldn't be able to play copied games cause it wasn.t designed too.

I hope i helped,

2 PS1 games in almost perfect condition arn't working on PS2

Try wiping the disks in a circular motion with a cotton t-shirt, tissue or cleaning cloth, then try again. If it still doesn't work, try a PS2 game. If it works, try another PS1 game. If the other PS1 game doesn't work, the PS1 part of your PS2 system may be broken. Your PS2 has, inside of it, a miniaturized PS1. If that mini-PS1 breaks, you can't play PS1 games. If the PS2 game doesn't work, you probably need a lens repair. If the other PS1 game works, then your games are defective and you should get new ones.

My PS2 will play the games for a little then they will freeze.

try using a q-tip with rubbing alcohol to clean the lens of the laser.the lens is exposed on the slim versions.just dip the q-tip in the alcohol and rub the lens firmly in a circular motion.use the dry side of the q-tip to dry the lens

Japanese game wont play on ps2 slimline!

if its in a region lock, its impossible to be played on a American PS2, if your PS2 is modded it will read any region locked discs, the only possible solution is to buy a Japanese Version PS2

PLAY STAITION 2 format required

Try burning your own cds, you can burn them and they have no region attached to them, so they should work in any ps2, anywhere.
