I travel a lot for my company which means living out of hotels for weeks at a time. I arrived in the Philippines on Sunday and will be here for a month. I depend on my PS2 to keep me sane with movies, music and games. After arriving here, I tried to put in a movie and it started 'jumping' a second or two ahead every few minutes. These little hops got more frequent until they were happening about every ten seconds, at which time I removed the disc. On replacing it the PS2 started making very quiet 'clicking' sounds and when I lifted the cover (I have a slim) the disc wasn't spinning. I tried several other movies and games, it seems to work normally with certain discs (always the same ones) but mostly I get the same result with the 'clicking' sound and the disc not spinning. I do not consider myself an engineer by any means, so I have not opened anything or tried to fix the problem myself. I DID notice however, that the discs it spins and reads normally are the newer ones (no scratches). What I can't wrap my head around is how the hell the damn thing knows what condition the disc is in before it tries to read it. Any ideas?
Use alcohol and a q-tip to clean the optic lens do this using gentle circular movement over the optic eye , check for heavy dust , and try to blow it, if after this don't work , coul'be the optic itself. let me know . in order to provide you with more ,information that you may need thanks
