I bought acer aspire 3680 used had to do a system restore on it 2 weeks ago now it asks for windows password of prior owner which i dont have but i used this pc for 6 months wouldnt my windows passwor

If you can't change the setting in the bios setup that means you have a bios supervisor password set. If you don't know the supervisor password you can reset the supervisor with Acer Bios Master Password from http://www.unlockbiosrecovery.com/Unlock_Acer_Bios.php for only $20

I have an acer aspire one netbook and a password was put on my computer when you first log on, i dont remember the password, and i can't get on my computer what can i do ...

@darlene

Acer laptops have a built-in recovery mode on the system wherein you can restore the computer to factory default and it will erase that password that you have but it will also erase everything else. If you're cool with that, The hotkey for the recovery is the ALT+F10 key. After you press the power button, you need to hold ALT and then simultaneously press the F10 key to start system recovery.
Once the recovery menu has loaded, click Restore to Factory Default Settings.

I bought a brand new acer aspire 4743z and want to change the password but i don't know the original factory password..needs assistance..tq.

Just download Windows Password Key from http://download.cnet.com/Windows-Password-Key/3000-2092_4-75031111.html?tag=mncol;6
and burn it on a disk and then boot your computer from this cd, it will clear the password of your account without knowing the current password.

My son changed his password on his netbook. now he doesn't remember it. he cannot log in at all. he can do absolutely nothing with it. how can we fix this?

at Windows XP's Welcome Screen, simply press Ctrl-Alt-Del keys sequence together twice, and you will be shown a Log On to Windows menu where you can specify the User Name and Password. In the User Name text box, key in "Administrator" (without quotes) and leave the Password field blank. Then press Enter or click on OK. If there it is not a password protected Administrator account, or blank password is set, then you will be able to access the Windows with full administrative privileges as Administrator.

Then simply click start > control panel > User accounts then select your sons account and click edit then click remove password. once done simply log off and then log in to your sons account and no password will be asked for. If your son is the root administrator then you will need to get software to reset the password for you

Previous user apparently password protected Windows.

Well first off you can use the restore feature and it will only reinstall crucial windows files it won't mess with software that was already installed.

There are password recovery programs out there you would have to search for one and install the program onto a disc and boot of it (just follow the instructions)

System Restore disk

is there not a 2nd partition on your computer with the restore files on? If there is try pressing Alt + F10 when the gateway screen appears on boot. This will restore you computer to the factory settings.

Before restore starts it will ask you for a password, this would have been user generated when you first got the computer. If you don't know the password, press enter - maybe you didn't enter one to begin with and this will bypass it, or it may give you a hint as to what the password is. Or just try typing in admin. (if you don't remember your password - I don't know what to suggest, except it may be the same password you use for your user account or did use when you first got the computer.)

I have tried looking for restore disks for you and came back with nothing.

I hope this helps
