Question about Sony Handycam DCR-TRV730 Digital Camcorder

Menu select dial problem

My sony DCR-TRV730 camcorder has an unusal problem: Menu sel/exec dial will only select 'Preset Titles'. The only wat to get into the menu is via the menu button when thst LCD panel is open,and the only way to execute an option is via the 'push exec' button. Is there a simple way to solve this or am I forced to live with this problem.

Same probelm but even the exec button will not work.

Can not go into any menue

Pressing the selection wheel from any meue go's to the title main menue and again no selection possible

Have reset the TRC730 3 times

When trying to adjust, select, or use the SEL/PUSH/Exec scroll button after hitting the menu button on my camera all it does it immediately go to the exit button.

It will not let me out of the title area. The menu will only show me the option under the different headings but will not go to the format section nor other sun sections. Have tried a new memory stick and get the fast blinking error with the new one too.

- On my TRC740 no matter what choice I make (cam, memory, etc) I get the Title options and can't select them either - am sent back, pushing up the select dail no longer gets me anywhere. Can not format my memory card (even bought a new one). A dead end in the menu.

The camera works but can't use/format the memory stick and any attempt to use the menu sends me to select titles ( and can't do that).

I can't slect anything in the menu. Whatever I try to use I get 'titles' and even there i can't execute a selection. BTW, can't format the memory card, even after buying a new one.

I can't get the menu to select anything. When I try I am sent to the 'title' section and can't even select there. Can't format even a new memory card. The entire menu is not working. Have turned off and on and tried to reset with no luck.

Preset Titles? can you describe the problem with more detail please. sounds sort of like you need to get into the menu and swith it out of title mode.

How do I change from LP to SP ?

for the dcrtrv320 here's how you do it.ensure you have the power switch set to camera/vtr. press the menu button. will give you little icons on the screen (you should see manual set or vtr set). scroll down to the icon the looks like a tape (tape set). use the sel/push exec dial (it's the dial near the menu button,bottom of the viewfinder and left side of the batt) you scroll it up/down and push it in to confirm your selection.in tape set you have rec mode (press sel/push exec dial in)scroll to sp and press sel/push exec dial again to confirm setting. press menu to exit menu settings. hope this helps.thanks :)

Vista will not recognize Sony trv730 firewire

Make sure to Enable USB Streaming option available in Camera Menu. Connect camera with PC and Vista will recognize it.

My Sony HC14E says to do this :
Set Power to CAMERA
Open the LCD panel
Press the FN (Function) to display PAGE
Press MENU to display the menus available
Press upward and downward arrows to select the symbol which on mine looks like a suitcase! then press EXEC
Select upward and downward arrows to select CLOCKSET then EXEC
Select the upward and downward arrows to enter the year
Set the month, day and hour with the same procedure as above
Press the arrow keys to set the minute, then press EXEC by the time signal. The clock starts to move.

Mode for playback of older 8mm tapes using Sony DCR-TRV730 ?

In 1990s Sony camcorder records movie in analog format so playing in digital camcorder like DCR-TRV730 doesn't mean it will be converted in digital format and you can not import file in PC for editing purpose. You will get analog signal while playing back old cassettes.

Regarding SP, LP speed, its decided at time of recording. Camera sens SP or LP automatically in playback and set itself accordingly.

If you want to convert old cassettes into digital format, connect our camcorder to DVD recorder and burn DVD which is digital format, copy DVD files in to PC and do desired editing.

PC does not detect DCR-TRV730 via firewire cable I cannot believe it. Yesterday I could connected handycam to PC via firewire cable and through pop up I could select Adobe Premiere Pro and transfer video to PC. Today PC does not detect the handycam. After rebooting PC, switching handy-cam power switch to different positions still camcorder is not detected. Adobe Premiere Pro says on capture window: Capture Device Offline. In camcoder I can see "DV IN". I bought firewire cable yesterday. Did it fail just after a couple of hours of work? Possible. They manufacture such a **** these days. How to test the firewire? Or how to restore the connection? What am I missing? Your help is highly appreciated. Thank you very much.
