Floppy diskette seek failure

I have a Dell Dimension E310 and when I boot the unit is gives me a black and white screen stating "Floppy Diskette Seek Failure". When I try to go into the set up screen it just reboots. What could this be? I have the same problem with my dell Dimension 9200. I have no floppy drive. A new hard drive didn't work. When trying to install XP to the new hard drive still get the floppy diskette seek failure.

Boot into setup by pressing F2 or F10 depending on your bios and disable the floppy drive setting.

Floppy diskette seek failure

The floppy disk or drive is damaged, or if your trying to boot your computer and you have a floppy in the drive that is not bootable. It will try and boot from floppy first then cd then hard drive usually but floppy's are stupid and only return an error and then stops. Remove the floppy disk and boot

My dell dimension 9200 is booting and then giving me a Floppy Diskette Seek Failure message. What is causing this to appear and not boot windows 7?

Hi. You computer seems to be booting up using the floppy disk and your floppy disk drive might not be connected properly, not working or not even there. Press F2 to run the setup utility and disable the floppy seek in the bios. It will most likely be in the "Advanced CMOS setup" area, or the 2nd screen depending on your bios. look for "Seek floppy drive at boot?" or, "Disable floppy seek at boot?" or something like that. When you find it, make sure it's not enabled for the seek. Save the change on exiting. :-)

A used dell computer, hooked it up and black screen comes up and it says diskette 1 seek failure

Below is a list of possible causes.

Faulty or improperly inserted diskette, incorrect configuration settings in System Setup program(You might be set to boot from the floppy drive. You want to be set to boot from the hard drive), loose diskette/tape drive interface cable, or loose power cable.

If possible please rate this solution.

Floppy Diskette Seek Failure on boot up

Hello there:
This is a setting in the bios , so what you are going to have to do
is boot into bios and under the boot section and check to see if the floppy drive is a option that is part of the boot sequense if it is change it so that is not part of the boot sequense than go under the periphial section and check to see if it is showing up there as a removable device if so change it or disable it all together since you do not have a floppy drive ok
and this should take care of he problem
I hope that this is very helpful for you
Best regards Michael
