I have a Durabrand Dual-7C. When I load a disk, it shows "loading", I can hear it working, then it says "no valid disc". I've tried several discs, none that are not scratched.

I have tried putting in different new dvds and none of them work. I can hear the motor trying to spin but it won't pick up the disc. I just bought this less than a month ago for my son and he's so small he doesn't even touch it so it truly is just a junky dvd player. =(I have tried putting in different new dvds and none of them work. You can find the spindle motor in a wore out cd rom drive or just about any house hold electronics , that you could take it out of something else that isn't any good any more , you can find them type motors just about in anything .

Re:
These units are known for bad spin motors. the unit appears to be working , but does not obtain the speed needed to extract the information for the a/d converter to correlate.Unfortuneately it is not economically feasible to repair there units.
I would however clean the laser just to rule out the obvious. Scrivitron

Hello The Sled Motor is defective. this is the motor, whic spins the disc as it has been loaded properly. If the loader mechanism loads the disc properly into place and if the catch up magnet catches the disc in place, and still the dis do not spins, replace the sled motor. OK.
I was having the same problem with my pvd-702...I genlty cleaned the lens with a dap of alcohol on a q-tip. I blew the lens so it was dry and the dvd player started working. No need to try to call the 1-800 number, it is disconnected and the warranties are not valid, because the address does not exist. try the q-tip, it worked for me.
This happened to me several times, Eventually i gave up. One day though i tried it again and it worked. You should probabaly wait a month or two and see what happens
Same here!!! We've only used it maybe 8 or 9 times. And it's been worthless for the past month because of it. It reads everything "no valid disk" and nothing will work. And I tried e-mailing customer support several times, with no luck.
Hi,
Try cleaning the lens. A CD cleaner for PC CD/DVD will also work with DVD players. If problem is not corrected, you may need to seek the services of a qualified professional.
Good luck and kind regards.
Check to see if the disc is spinning. You can do this by one of two ways either
a:) Listen for the disc to spin after inserting it or
b:) Place disk in drive right way up (so that the label is not upside down). Load the disc and eject the disc again to se if the disc has moved i.e. the writing may now be upside down.
If the disc does not spin then it is likely that there is something wrong with the disc motor. If it does spin then the issue is more likely to be with the laser unit. Try cleaning the lens but if this doesn't help it's likely to be a more serious and ultimately more expensive problem.
