Using ipod touch 3.1 that won't sync to Acer laptop. Downloaded videos from itunes last night and are in itunes library. When I try to drag and drop the files downloaded from itunes, i get the circle with...

It sounds like you might have your iPod in Automatic sync mode. When in that mode you can't drag and drop specific videos to the iPod in the manner that you are describing. You've got a couple choices.
  • You can place your iPod in Manual sync mode. This seems to be what you're implying you would like. To Do this:
  1. Open iTunes and connect your device
  2. Click on your device name on the left pane under devices.
  3. On the summary tab check Manually manage music and videos
  4. Drag your video from your library onto your device.
  5. Your'e done, it will begin to sync automatically.

2) You can make use of the automated syncing features.
  1. Open iTunes and connect your device.
  2. Select the device from the left pane by clicking on the device name.
  3. Ensure that Manually manage music and videos is unchecked.
  4. Click on the Movies tab and check Sync movies
  5. Browse the list of movies and place check marks next to the movies that you would like to be synced.
  6. Click the sync button in the bottom right corner of iTunes.

How to transfer iPod music to a new computer

You've got a new computer. All your music and videos are on your iPod and you'd like to populate you new iTunes library from it. Unfortunately iTunes doesn't let you transfer anything other than your iTunes store purchases from your iPod.

To transfer all your iPod content, all your music, playlists, videos, podcasts and photos to your new iTunes library you will need to download software like TouchCopy.

Here is how to use TouchCopy

1. Download and Install TouchCopy. Downloads are free and are available for both PC and Mac.
2. Start up TouchCopy by double-clicking the TouchCopy icon on your desktop.
3. If the welcome window appears click past it until you get to a window asking to connect your iPod.
4. Connect your iPod or iPhone to your computer.
TouchCopy may start iTunes - don't worry, TouchCopy has fixed it so that iTunes will not sync music or video with your iPod while TouchCopy is running. These changes are restored when you quit TouchCopy.

Copying Music into iTunes
itunes_over.pngYou can now select which songs you want to copy into iTunes, if you want to select all your music, select "Music" from the list on the left and click on "Copy to iTunes" button in the TouchCopy control bar.

In a similar way, you can also use TouchCopy to copy your playlists, videos, podcasts, photos, contacts, calendars, notes and iPhone SMS.

When you are satisfied that all your iPod content is safely in iTunes, use iTunes to re-sync your iPod which will enable you to add new content to it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Adding content on your computer to iTunes
iTunes lets you add digital audio and video files on your computer directly to your iTunes library. You can add audio files that are in AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, or Audible.com (.aa) format. If you have unprotected WMA content, iTunes for Windows can convert these files to one of these formats. Video content in QuickTime or MPEG-4 format can also be added to iTunes. To learn how to add these files to iTunes follow the steps below.
Open iTunes From the File menu, choose one of the following choices: Mac Add to Library Windows Add File to Library Add Folder to Library Navigate to and select the file or folder that you want to add If iTunes is set to "Copy files to the iTunes Music folder when adding to library", iTunes will copy all content that is added to the iTunes library to the iTunes Music folder. Then adjust this setting or change the location of this folder, go to the Advanced tab in iTunes preferences.
