Problem copying a movie onto a lightscribe hp dvd +r media disc, using my hp dvd940e dvd writer

I am having a problem copying a movie onto a lightscribe 16x hp dvd +r (4.7GB) media disc. It all works fine if i copy the film onto a verbatim 4x dvd +rw disc but just doesnt seem to be working with these lightscribe discs I am using DVD Decryptor for burning and choosing ISO write mode in the program. Is there something i am doing wrong? Basically when i burn the film onto the lightscribe disc it says that everything was successful in DVD Decrypto but then when i go to playback in my dvd player or on my dvd rom drive on my pc it makes a funny clicking noise and doesnt load up Please help.....

The semaphore timeout period has expired refers to the fact that the driver is no longer communicating with the device and failed. Each time a CD Burner is setup for a CD Burning session the burner hardware will perform a 15 step power test to determine the OPC for a Blank Media Disc, OPC meaning Optimum Power Calibration. This test also takes place during the CD Burning process so the CD Burner can determine the best burn speed and method for the disc; this test is called 'Running Optimum Power Calibration'. Although the test is performed by the hardware of the CD Burner, the device initializes the CD Burning Software for the test to take place. This is one reason why your software may report the "Power Calibration Error" or ?Calibration Error Full?. With Power Calibration errors they can be caused by different factors and sometimes difficult to locate, especially if the errors are at random. Below are the known factors that will cause the Power Calibration Errors and how to check each factor, it is important that each point is considered if wanting to get to the bottom of the error. Power Calibration Errors can occur when OPC or ROPC tests for the media disc so the condition of the disc, brand of disc and even the firmware for the CD Burner can be the cause for the errors occurring. A device such as a CD Burners can have different problems if there is a power consumption issue with the system and the Power Calibration Error is just one of those problems. If using either an internal or external CD Burner make sure to disconnect all other devices, except the hard drive and Burner, before attempting to burn a disc. Double check all cables for any faults and if possible test with a 2nd Data Cable. It is also advisable to disconnect the power connection for the CD Burner and test with a spare connector. If you have no trouble with other discs, use them and put to one side the lightscribe, other than that try the burner in another pc or with other burning software, as you can see it's quite ridiculous what problems burners can create.

My dvd not writing but read

There can be several reasons for that. Try to use Nero software if you are using LG SUITE. Also the DVD write speed and format has to match that of your writer. Ate you copying another DVD or writing data or edited media such as movie video or music files? Check compliance format.

A freind let me borrow their hp dvd 1040e external 20x multiformat dvd writer. i can burn the music on cds fine with itunes, but i cant figure out how to use the litescribe to burn images on the tops....

You will need Nero burning software. It will after the normal burn show you a screen where you place the image you want to burn for lightscribe. Another failing with lightscribe is that you must have lightscribe discs!

Is there a software update for lightscribe for lacie d2 blue ray burner, so that I can burn dvd titles on a disc?

When you say "burn dvd titles on a disc", do you mean to write (laser-etch) the name of the movie on the plastic disk? I am assuming that is what you mean. If not, please describe what you mean. . No, LaCie does not make a Blu-Ray LightScribe drive. This is a technology/hardware problem, not a software problem. . There are a small number of internal (I know you want external) Blu-Ray burners with Lightscribe hardware built in. Here is one: LG LightScribe GGW-H20L Blu-Ray DVD Sata Drive. . The Lightscribe website says no such media exists, even though the drives have been available since June of last year: http://lightscribe.com/products/index.aspx?id=106 Watch that site for info about the media. Once the media is available, you will be able to buy the external drive you want. . Here is a burner for only $4,400 (that is not a typo):http://www.meritline.com/sharkblu-lightscribe-8x-blu-ray-dvd-duplicator-1-11---p-35937.aspx . OK, it is a duplicator (burns up to 11 copies at once), hence the high price, but useless without the media. . BTW - It is a simple matter to buy an external USB2 or FW case and put an internal burner in that case to make an external drive. . --Dave

My HP DVD writer 740b won't recognize disc

You guys are crazy, another person trying to send someone to a repair guy to make money off us when in fact it would be cheaper just to buy a new one. I have the same issue with the same model 740b and this is driving me crazy I have been to a 100 different post andI will tell you what no one has a clue what they are talking about. Oh, restart the system upgrade your firmware, delete your reg file, its all BS. I have did everything in the book and this is what I have come up with. My drive reads some dvd disc I have created but any ISO or Auto play disc it doesnt even see it just keeps trying to load and thats it. So in my opinion HP or Compaq sent a update that did not require you to accept or approve and it updated the firmware with some info about allowing to use writen ISO or autoplay disc. Because it would seem to help with the cutting down of pirated software but the only issue is that if the software is an individuals and they copied it for their own use, who are they to intefere with our equipment. I may be wrong but it just seems kind of funny that every one is stating that this all happened around the same time. So in closing if you dont know the remedy do not suggest to send to a repair shop because you are an idiot then.

Thx Pirate

Not recognizing disc in D drive

Hi, well the short answer is NO. You cannot use DVD's in a CD Writer at all. So the simple answer is to get some CD-R and copy the files to them. OR get a Combo DVD/CD writer and install that as well.. and then you can use both..

What type of application are you using? I know that the new nero requires you to choose whether you want to write to dvd or cd before it will work. maybe your application is similar.
