Warning: Laser inside! If you want to open it up and troubleshoot, make sure you don't point toward your eyes.
Check the nylon laser carriage to see if it slides laser from center to outside line. If it sticks, it's probably shutting down from not properly reading a disk.
First try the solutions offered elsewhere, eg cleaning the lens. Then try this -
Put in a DVD. Try to rotate it clockwise. Does it run freely? If not where is it catching? Rock the DVD to see if it is contacting the right hand side of the player causing the motor to stop. If yes, then it is likely that the internal battery has shifted and is distorting the plastic underneath the DVD. Confirm this by turning on the player, apply pressure to the area to the right of the DVD. The player should start/stop according to the pressure.
Remove the 11 screws on the base. Remember their positions as they are not all the same length.
Carefully separate the two halves - there are wires connecting them. The battery is held in place by sticky tape. It may have migrated to be closer to the DVD, causing the motor to stop. Re-position the battery closer to the edge. Use fresh sticky tape if required. Re-assemble the unit.
Check that a DVD spins freely.
If you want to get the dvd out
you can try this:
First turn of you dvd player at the mains,
Then power it up,
But the moment it powers up press the eject button a few times so it doesn't start to load.
If it doesn't work the first time try it one more time since you may not get the hang of it at first.
then you dvd should eject.
With dvd players like this, corrupt, copied or really scratched dvds may make your dvd player do this.

It is a problem with the laser. Getting a lens cleaner could help, but it is doubtful. Your best bet, tap the unit while the disk is trying to load.
There is a motor that moves the laser into place. Often the motor burns out or it does not focus correctly after a while. Sometimes, they just get stuck. A tap may kick start the motor into place if it is stuck. Most likely, you will have to replace the unit.
P.S. Toothpaste and electronics don't mix. CD players get extremely hot. You will eventually be cleaning Crest out of your DVD player.
You're going to have to switch off the unit and turn it back on to make it stop. the disk is either badly damaged or the infra red in the remote isn't responding to the dvd player vice versa. hope i managed to help. goodluck. PS also clean the lens of the player as dust causes disk loading probs aswell
With the power turned off, open the DVD Player, and
then open the top where you load the DVD into the player. Locate the
laser lens
and notice that the laser is attached to a transport assembly that
moves the laser
diagonally outward in a slot. 1. Slide this assembly outward to the end
of its track. 2. Slide the assembly back inward to the closest inward
position. 3. Repeat the process of sliding the assembly outward and then
back inward.4. Put in a music CD and let it play all the way through.
This helps to calibrate the laser head assembly movement. When the
music CD is finished playing. 5. Put in a DVD, and you should have a
working unit
again This is a factory solution from Mintek that was given to a
customer who ask for help with the forever loading disc problems. This
solution may work on other models of portable DVD players. Most
portable DVD players use this type of transport mechanism. Try this
solution it might work for you.
I've had the same symptoms on the last two Sony DVD's that I've rented. I managed to get around this by hitting one of the menu buttons after the loading message stopped.
