I have been using this calculator for the past 6 or 7 months with no paper. I finally went and got some paper for it and this is where I ran into problems. I pressed the "2nd" button and then pressed the "M+" button which has the "P/NP" over it (for second function). When I did this, the "NP" that was on the top of the screen changed to "P" which should happen, but where the digits appear on the screen, a big "P" appeared and a little "E" is on the bottom right hand side of the screen. There is also a little "F" on the top of the screen about 1/2 inch to the left of the "P". I cannot use the calculator for anything now, none of the buttons work. I have turned off the power and turned it back on. I have taken the batteries out and put them back in. I have pressed the little reset button the back of the machine. Nothing has worked. The big "P" with the little "E" keep coming back. How do I clear this error and get my calculator back?
I've been using mine for something like 20 years! I just experienced this for the first time. Mine is so old it does not have the '2nd' key. But I got it to reset by turning it off, holding down the P/NP key while powering it on, then hitting the P/NP key once more to turn the little P in the top right corner to NP. Works great now. Hope yours works now as well because I LOVE this little machine.

I had a similar problem but it got totally solved with a 6 volt dc adopter and now no error is given so if there is a problem with the battery and probably the calculator "processor" need for power is not met from the old batteries. Always try new batteries before service or repair as it will solve many of your problems

It sounds like there is a printer error. Take of the cover where the paper is. There should be a little ink roller. Try taking this out and look in and see if the rubber band with the numbers on it is broken. If so, the machine is not worth repairing, unless you can get it replace under warranty. If it is not broken, try turning the machine on and off with the ink roll out of the machine. This should reset the print head as long as nothing is in there jamming it up. Good luck John

I found that the batteries in the machine were strong enough to work the calculator without the paper, but when I tried to switch back to paper, I got the error. I replaced the batteries and it works fine now. Thanks for everyone's help.
