each time I try to do some kind of zoom on a picture the camera turns itself off. I have tried looking on Kodak's website but that is a lost cause

I have the same issue. not sure if your issue the same but mine occurs when you enter the digital zoom
to me that sounds like a issue with the cameras software that maybe a firmware update would fix but I won't be holding my breath! i will look at the batteries and see if that helps.

Ok i fixed mine by spitting on the battery contacts and wiping it off on the inside of my shirt...so it basically just needs to be cleaned-but make sure you dry it afterwards or the battery might break or leak

I was having the same problem. Every time I'd zoom the camera would shut off. This was puzzling because other than that, the camera worked fine. I'd had this camera for years and I really like it because it takes great pictures. I tried a new battery and the problem was instantly better. I looked at the gold contact pads on the old battery and noticed that they were black just in the spots that the camera touches them. I used an ink eraser (although any mildly abrasive eraser will work) to clean the contacts both on the battery and in the camera (be very careful not to leave tiny pieces of the eraser in the camera body). I don't have the problem with the camera, the new battery or old battery any more. It is important to keep in mind that zooming in and out takes the most amount of power. You've probably noticed that when your camera is low on power, if you zoom it will shut down. If you've got a voltmeter, test the battery. If it is old, it might be starting to fail. If you can't test it, it wouldn't hurt to clean the contacts or buy a cheap battery on e-bay. Hope this helps!

Hey,

Seems the lens mechanism is stuck and would need to be taken apart, its best to send the camera in for repair.

Error E45

Turn your camera on and smack the camera against your hand. The E45 error means your lens is stuck. The lens on my V603 was stuck open, when I smacked it against my hand it closed and now works fine. Give that a shot.

Camera will not turn on...

Does it do this when hooked up to the charger? It might be the battery.

Zoom

Please check the battery contacts inside the camera. Do they look gold and shiny? Or do they look a little dirty? It wouldn't hurt to try cleaning them with a pencil eraser, just don't leave any tiny pieces of eraser in the camera. Hope this helps!
