I took the small clear plastic tube off of the back of the pump, blew into it, replaced it, reataached the hose and everything is now OK.

I had the same problem, so I tried both the above solutions by Guest and toneavenger - my dishwasher now works fine, and I've saved myself a fortune in call-out fees and maintenance costs.

Absolutely bang on - cheers !!!

In some cases it is the water metering tank on the left hand side that gets bunged up and needs cleaning, next is the water feeding pipes. if everything is clean and the water valve supply is ok then it will need a special mod kit to be fitted, which will need to be fitted by a pro. tony.

My amana softsound III Model DWA63AL doesn't seem to get dishes clean. I have cleaned filters and everthing seems to operate ok. Water temp good. any advice?

Many people are having trouble with poor performance due to recent EPA changes required in dish washing detergent.
If it makes as much water splashing noise as it used to but it still leaves residue and undissolved food behind...then it's probably the detergent. That's what does the work.

Dishwasher wan't fill with water

The water valve may look fine but the solenoid may not be opening to allow water in. You said that everything else works fine except no water supply to the dishwasher. This sounds like a bad soleniod valve. Check for continuity on the valve with an ohms meter after you start it. Be careful.

Doesnt clean dishes, seems to be no water coming into machine

There should be about 2 inches of water in the bottom of the DW.  If it is filling but not washing the pump may be bad.  That might explain the loud noise (motor bearing).  I assume that the detergent cover is opening but no water is being sprayed to dissolve it.

Dishwasher doesn't spray water after filling?

could be a blocked pump or capacitor fault, check if pump armature will move(centre rotating part)you may be able to view end of pump with lamp, there may also be a slot for a screwdriver to move armature, you will feel if there is something stuck, hope this helps

Cycle starts but water doesn't fill past heating elements.

I think that the problem is the water inlet valve if the machine is not filling at all.

If the machine is not filling to the correct level, it may be the float switch.

Dishwasher was making whirliing noise during wash, now no wash, only fill and drain

there is a #10 torx screw holding that cover down.do not drill it out. after you take it off you can tell if the chopper is broken.be careful for broken glass.

Very poor cleaning all of a sudden

suspect blockage in the actual spray arms - take them out and clean under the tap. a check is to open the door when in operation and see if the spray arms are rotating. they are made to rotate only by the force of water thro angled jets at the end of the arms
