My computer wont run the installation disk that came with my mp3, so "video conversion" seems impossible. I cant find any downloads for it on the internet, either. All help is appreciated :)
In reading my manual it states that the only supported video format is AVI (Xvid) There is a video conversion program on the drivers CD, but you can also download a newer version from CobyUSA.COM for free. I haven't tried it, but the firmware upgrade I did download from that site worked perfectly and loaded exactly as the manual described. Once This program is installed on your Windows machine and you import video files to it and then load them to your unit. I know this seems complicated, and it may not be necessary if your files are already AVI.
It isn't too much different from converting Wave files to MP3, though there is a learning curve. Take time and don't try to do everything at once. Download the program one day, read the manual the next, try converting a file the next. It just takes patience.
The Coby displays pictures just fine, both BMP and JPEG. Movies are always a little more complicated.
The installation disk is only needed for windows 98, XP or vista will instantly recognise the player as another drive in my computer. There is no software on the disk from what i know that converts any video file to go onto the player, you would have to use a third party conversion programme to convert any video files to a '.avi file', which the player supports. If you wish to check some out go to the link below http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Search/video_converter.html The manual can be downloaded here if required http://www.cobyusa.com/manuals/MPC951.pdf
