Ticking noise i have a ticking noise in my engine while i'm driving i already put a rebuilt engine in there along with a transmission i put alot of money in this car any suggestions

If it is a four wheel drive check your tail shaft or drive line by securing the vehicles front wheels jack up the rear tires and in park try to rotate the drive line if you can hear the transmission sound like it is going into gear the transfer case could be damaged! If not a four wheel drive pull the transmission dipstick and look to see if the fluid is dark red or metallic grayish color if so then you're clutch disks inside the tyranny have been worn out and it needs to be rebuilt!

ticking noise is the lifters I am thinking without hearing it but I would try some stp oil treatment add it to your oil the other services you talked about like flushing out the radiator my cause you to start losing water or burning it the trans fluid change wouldn't hurt

Lifter may be worn or cam lobe is worn and is probably due a timing belt replacement as well.Sounds like just a high mileage problem lots of people complain of valve train noise from these engines its not uncommon. I would use a high mileage engine oil to help with the noise but i am afraid the noise is only going to get worse over time you may look into salvage engine with a warranty or having the engine rebuilt it sounds like it is already burning oil. The valve lash can be adjusted on this engine but if your not a mechanic i do not recommend this, it is very sensitive procedure and can damage the engine permanently. Take it to a shop have them check your valve lash and adjust it for the noise issue to save yourself some time and money on a very costly repair with improperly adjusted valve lash. Chico you need to find some local transmission shops in the yellow page, call them and ask for a price to remove, rebuild, and replace your transmission. May well exceed the value of the car, so if you decide to do it put some thought into getting a rebuilt engine at the same time so you can sit down in a car which has another 100,000 miles in it. Nothing like spending the labor money to replace the engine after you have just paid to have it taken out and replaced to swap transmissions.

I love these cars and have owned a 92 model from 98-09. These cars are infamous for lifter ticking noise. (look up lifter tick on youtube for sound comparison). Although this is not a problem, it is a big nuisance can be fixed by changing the lifters from a 97-99 model. These cars with high mileage also seem to be prone to engine rod knock. 3000gt's timing belts start slipping a tooth or so and the rods start to bang since the timing is off. These engines are interference motors, therefore if the timing is off and you drive around with messed up timing, your internals are all interrupted.(must be rebuilt)
If it is LOUD, I would say it is a rod knock. The best thing to do is add a can of thick oil(forget the name) and don't beat on it. This will reduce the noise alot. If you want to FIX the problem, you will need to rebuild.

then it was either installed wrong and you just lost your driveshaft or it was rebuilt incorrectly/with faulty parts and has failed, either way take it back and get them to fix it under warranty. only other thing would be the differential but since no one messed around with that recently im gonna put my money on tranny/driveshaft

new lifters?,,,,,,an over haul could help.....but it takes alot of money.....

does it sound like almost a "diesel engine"

you know.....there are products that can help release lifters that have become sticky or noisy.......

alot of brands and chemystries but "RISLONE" could help....

I would start by splitting up the drive train to determine if it is accessory, engine or transmission related.
There are a number of things that can cause a problem like this.
1) Is the noise louder in drive or reverse.
2) I would start with heat-shields because of your "clank" description. Exhaust manifold, catalytic converter shields and any other you can find under hood or under body.
3) If all is good, check engine and transmission mounts. Make certain none have collapsed, cracked or broken.
4) If all good, remove all accessory drive belts and start engine to see if noise goes away.
That's a lot to start with, so let me know what you find and we will go from there.

If either the torque converter or the oil pump was defective, you'll have a problem with the drive.....It wont pull correctly and eventually, you'll lose the drive....It's more likely to be something else.... As you recently had the engine out for a rebuild, make sure there's nothing stuck where it shouldn't be.... You may even find that the noise is coming from somewhere else altogether....That sometimes happens with vehicles.... Let me know what you find out....

1. Will need a radiator; there is ruber seal between the plastic tank and the aluminum core, and it sounds as though the seal is bad. I've tried transmission sealers; sometimes they work for a while.

Ticking noise is probably lifters (cam is farther down in the engine). Outflow of air from oil cap is normal. JWS
