My quantum flash is misfiring...fire a few shots, then misfire again.

If the light is flashing its because your doing damage to the catalytic converter. Your dumping raw fuel, in other words you have a coil pack not firing. Your gonna have a P code. Either P0300 random multiple misfire, P301 cylinder 1 misfire, P302 cyl #2 misfire, ect... Replace the coil pack on the dead cyl.

Do a Cylinder Leak Down Test --to see if the valve are shot & leaking

You can also do an electronic cylinder contribution test

Then if the all seal, check the timing belt

After that check for vacuum leaks with evap smoke machine

There are few possibilities that can cause engine misfire issues. It can be issue with spark plugs or faulty spark plugs. Also get the compression test done for cylinders. If any of cylinder shows low compression then required, then that particular cylinder will cause misfire.

Also get obd codes scanned, the error code will let you know which cylinder is misfiring or all cylinders are misfiring.

Hi: First I would check to see if the plugs are firing. They have a cheap little tool at the local parts place for this. if there is no ignition, I would check the codes again. It should store the last code before it quit. If you have fire, I would check fuel and compression next. Does a little fuel in the intake make it fire? I believe there are three fuses for the ECM on this car. Are they all good? and is there voltage there?

so its got a misfire and quickest way out here to avoid a expensive garage visit is to change plugs and Ht leads and see what happens ,HT leads is proper english for fire wires by the way ,see iam learning american ---slowly---

If you have the camera on continuous then it may be that the charging is not keeping up with the shutter. Check the recycle time on the flash and compare with the burst speed on the camera. The burst speed on the 5D is fairly rapid.

Turn off the Pre-flash from the camera /or 580EX 2.

try replacing ur sparkplugs and wires.one single bad wire can cause a car to misfire,try testin the wires, to make sure u get a good spark

Have you replaced the coil yet? I assume by all 4 cylinders misfiring you mean P0300 Random Misfire? It could be a number of other things - a faulty fuel injector, coil, etc. Read this article for more info on random misfires - http://www.obd-codes.com/p0300
