Buy an aftermarket universal remote such as a Harmony, they will control nearly anything. Don't wast your time with the comcast remote they are rubbish. I have a viewsonic TV as well and harmony had the codes.

Yes you can purchase the remote from Viewsonic Online Parts Store or I have seen them for sale at remotes.com and that 3rd party store gives a 1 yr. warranty unlike VS 90 day warranty on the remote.
