IP3000 WILL NOT PRINT BLACK



Canon PIXMA IP3000 prints color but will not print black. Have installed two different new black cartridges. Can you help?

Try Start --> Control Panel --> Printer and Faxes

Right click on the printer --> slect Properties

Look for maintenance and try "clean" or "Deep Cleaning"

If you cannot find "Maintenance" look for "Tools"

Print head is fubar and for the cost that Canon will hit you with for a new print head you really have no alternative - new printer is cheaper than print head and also comes with a warranty.

I can not print with the black only do i need all the other cartridges to be in in order to print if i only want to use the black

You need all the carts in to print anything. If color carts are empty it won't print at all. That's just the way Canon made them...

Black won't print. Changed all ink cartridges,

It may need a new purge assembly, if it doesn't clean both sides properly either color or black will quit. You might try a new printhead first, QY6-0064-000 around $40.00

Ink has dried in the printhead. You need a new one, QY6-0064-000, around $50.00

I want to print with black cartridge only but

The best option is to click on properties when you're going to print and select grayscale. I believe this uses mostly, if not all, black ink.
