Computer won't wake after sleep mode

We recently bought a sony vaio laptop vgn-fw230J and when we put it on sleep mode it would not wake up by merely pressing the enter or escape keys. we had to press and hold the power button to wake it up. what can we do to make the sleep mode function properly? we have windows vista home premium version.

    I have a VAIO VGN-BX660P laptop. Having exactly above mentioned problem. I am running Win XP Op System.

There is no other solution part from this..............all brand follos the same procedure to come out of the sleep mode do not worry.................................Sameeraryan

    You are substantially incorrect Sameer. The PC should resume to normal (called waking from sleep) when you lift the lid. It will ask for the normal Windows Password, if you have set one, and then resume to normal. My PC was working like this, fine and stable until a few weeks back. Somehow this problem has occured, probably as a result of some malware or updated driver etc.

Sony Vaio won't wake
There are a lot of issues with drivers based on Windows 8 at the moment. I've also been playing a lot with it lately and have the same issue with my Dell laptop, Intel chipset. My only recommendation is to put Windows 7 back on and wait until late-October when all the manufacturers start releasing compatible drivers.

Crashed after power outage, Using windows recovery disk, and now it's stuck at welcome screen
At boot up press F8 and from the B&W menu select Last Good Boot up or words to that effects. This will restore your laptop to the last good boot up date.

Else from the B&W menu select the Safe Mode.

Vgn-fw330j/b wont stay in sleep mode. it awakens by itself.
I know when you have it in hibernation it will come out if simething startsto run in he background. This could be malicious software or just something you have running that activates and brings it out of hibernation. How many things load up when you first start up the computer, you should eliminate all the programs that start when you boot up, you only need to run programms when you want them, see if this solves your problem

Go to download the drivers that you require from the Sony WEB site, to their support/download page. Make sure you input your model laptop and select the Windows OS that matches your installed operating system.

XP Drivers for Sony Vaio VGN-fw230j/b
It's probably not supported Sony.

You can try and downgrade but you might lose some functionality. I downgraded my Vista Gateway laptop to XP but had to spend a lot of time tracking down drivers that would work correctly.

You won't be able to just pop in an XP cd and install. You'll have to jump through a few hoops.

Since you have a newer laptop your hard drive uses sata drivers which the XP cd doesn't have built-in.

Putting sony vaio VGN-FW230J on stand by
just ckick on start-shutdown in that option you will get standby or just close laptop directly without shutting down & when u open it will come of standby mode....................Sameeraryan
