SOURCE: RAM Cleared

This is kinda a weird situation. Because it's usually the other way around. Your ram will clear if your calculator is frozen. So take out all 5 batteries from the back. Even the back up battery. Then reset it again. 2nd then + then 7 then 1 Then 2. Good luck.

SOURCE: TI-84 Calc is FROZEN

I'd try hooking it to the computer using ti connect explorer and see if deleting the programs there would help. I had a calculator that did the same thing and never did fix it. But if your memory can be delete and reinstalled it might work.

SOURCE: TI-84 Incorrect sin/cos/tan values

What is so surprising? The sine and cosine functions have ranges that span the closed interval [-1,1]. As to the tangent function, its range is the the whole real line.

This being said, you should keep in mind that there are three angle units: the degree, the radian, and the grad.
When you want to calculate the sine, cosine, or tangent of a number, that number is not just a number. It is an angle, and as an angle it has a unit.

For this reason a calculator generally has two angle units defined (degree and radian), and possibly the grad. BEFORE calculating any trigonometric function you must ascertain that the angle is in the correct unit.

Clearly, in the problem you are trying to solve angle values are given in degrees, but your calculator is configured to interpret angles values in radians.

To set the default angle unit to degree press [MODE] , then press down arrow twice to reach the line (radian, degree). Highlight the word degree and press [ENTER] to set the default angle unit to degree.

Unfortunately the TI 8xPLUS family of calculators does not have a status bar on screen to remind you of the modes, and if you do not remember to check the current unit you get errors (at least unexpected results).

However, there is a way to avoid the errors and that is to enter the unit explicitly after the angle value. To do that you press [2nd][APPS] to open the (ANGLE) menu list. Try it.

  1. First item in list is the degree symbol, a raised 0
  2. 2nd is the minute, an apostrophe
  3. 3rd is radian, a raised r
By selecting the degree symbol and pressing [ENTER}, that symbol echoes on the screen just after the angle value. Closing the right parenthesis of the trigonometric function and pressing [ENTER] will give you the result in the correct unit of your choice. This can be done regardless of the default unit the calculator is configured for.

SOURCE: ti-83 plus ram cleared message when turned on

It calculator tells you Ram Cleared each time you turn it on, the most likely reason is that the backup battery is depleted. Its role is to keep the memory modules electrically refreshed when calculator is turned off. If the backup battery is dead, the memory is erased when you turn calculator OFF. Main batteries no longer supply power and the contents of the memory are cleared.

  1. Check that main batteries are good and inserted in calculator.
  2. Turn calculator OFF.
  3. Replace the backup battery.
  4. Turn calculator ON.
  5. Press the [CLEAR] key to erase the "Ram Cleared" message.

Ti-84 frozen

If your programs are archived you can remove the main AAA batteries without losing them. If they are stored in RAM they will be wiped out.
Just do not remove the Main AAA batteries and the button cell backup battery at the same time.

I jus bought a TI-84. when i turned it on it said RAM cleared. now there's a blinker on the screen. every time i press a button, nothing happens. whats wrong with this brad new calculator

You need to re-install or, update the Ti 84 Plus OS. Since you just bought the calculator it is unusual that it is already to that point of clearing the RAM. You can connect a computer and your Ti 84 calculator together once you downloaded and, installed Ti Connect software on the computer. That way you can use the Ti OS Downloader that comes with Ti Connect software to install the newest Ti 84 Plus OS. Or, if you have a friend that has a Ti 84 Plus or, Ti 84 Plus Silver Edition you can connect the two calculators together through the IO link ports and, they can send you a copy of their OS while you receive it on your Ti 84.

Get this problem fixed as quick as you can. You do not want your OS to fail any more than what it already has. If you can not find another calculator to connect too, then you can connect through your computer. You may have a long road ahead of you getting the Ti Connect software and, drivers working right. Just remember to come back to your posting here and, post a comment of what ever is failing. This will notify me right away and, I'll walk you though it if necessary.

RAM CLEARED?

Hello,
The most likely reason is that the backup battery is drained. Change the backup battery. When you get the Ram Cleared message, just press [CLEAR] to erase the message and start using the calculator.
Hope it helps.

My TI-84 Plus SE is stuck on the "Garbage Collection" screen. Is there any way to fix this?

Hello,
Press [2nd][QUIT]. If that does not work, remove the main batteries. Wait a little while, then insert them back again. It will attempt to continue garbage collection but will say Ram cleared. Clear the screen ant start using calculator.

Hope it helps.

Yes there is, but you need a screwdriver to get at it... make sure the batteries are in the right way first, though.
