This problem happened a few days ago.
I can turn the TV on and off but cannot change the station or the volume. Neither the remote nor the buttons on the TV itself work (except for Power). The one station that does work comes in fine. I do not have cable, I only use the over-the-air signal.
I tried unplugging it overnight but this did not help.
Panasonic support only referred me to a repair shop.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
John

Re:
John,
That would be my recommendation also.. Sounds like the micon controller IC or some breakdown on the video systems board. A shop would be equipped to scope the various wave forms according to board schematics. Something you're probably not able to do unless you have at least a 20mHz scope, a signal generator and some other fairly expensive and complicated equipment.
What I can help with to further the suggestion is that you take it to the shop yourself, that will save a few bucks - and if you're not sure on where to begin researching a reputable shop try the NESDA web site at:

Sorry, as a certified tech it's my least favorite part of the job handing out an opinion you probably didn't want to hear.

Yes, buy a remote control :>) They are readily available, no need to program and can be obtained from Amazon, eBay and specialty remote retailers like www.remotes.com
U may have got some bad gas maybe with water in it. Check with service station to see if anyone else had a problem that day. This happen to me a few years ago and service station paid for my repair.
In the audio menu there is a setting for "SAP". This stands for Second Audio Program. Some stations will broadcast a SAP signal along with the normal signal. Some don't, That is why some stations don't have any audio. Turn that SAP off.
I had the same problem. Tech support told me to turn the tv off, then unplug it. Then hold the power button (on the tv - on the bottom of left side) in for 30 seconds and try again. This did solve my problem.
These problems are normally caused by the TV station.
1. Call the TV station responsible and ask for the network engineer.
2. Tell him the Day, Time, Channel, Program, basically every little detail about the problem.
3. The station will normally check it and fix it.
Also, contact Toshiba and tell them. Really this is part of the DTV Transition thing. Many stations are reconfiguring and settin up equipment. They sometimes make mistakes. Don't worry much about it unless it continues for more than a week. If you like the station, I would call right away.
I bought my Insignia 32" LCD in November 2007 - same problem. I figured out that if you press the "input" button on your remote select any of the other options "component 1, composite 1, etc.. that you're TV isn't on -then press "input" again and go back to the component that you're TV plays on - you'll have volume when you go back every time. I've gotten so used to doing it now that it's become habit. 9 times out of 10 I have to do it.
