You don't need a programme to run a dvd rom, you use windows media player, or if you mean burning software, try some of these free programmes http://en.softonic.com/search/win-dvd-player

My LG DVD RW can not play DVD

Are you sure that your ROM can't play the disc or is it that you don't have a program to play the disc? To my knowledge Windows XP didn't come packaged with a DVD Decoder program; except for XP Media Center. There are some FreeWare programs out there that you can download, or you can pay for the program that decodes DVDs so that you can watch them. If your DVD isn't recognizing any type of DVD that you put into the ROM, then try playing a CD\DVD player cleaning disc in it. If that doesn't work, then you will probably have to get another DVD-ROM.

My dell laptops xps m1330 dvd player is not working

Verify that you have the last firmware (A14) on the Dell Support web site. Then check the CSS status of the DVD (should be unlocked) with this utility

http://www.digital-digest.com/software/download.php?sid=2&ssid=0&did=1

and finally verify that the DVDs are actually readable, and that the DVD reader works (try reading / burning a data CD-ROM or data DVD).

Check also that the video player software is set to the correct region and there are no errors in the Event Viewer (Hit Start, choose Run, type EVENTVWR.MSC and Enter). DVD events should be either under System or Applications.

We are having problems running the program. The

I'm not sure what program you are talking about, but if you have just installed the DVD, make sure that the pins on the back of the drive are set to master if this is the only DVD/CD/ROM drive you are using. If you have another DVD/ROM device running from the motherboard and connected to the DVD from the same ribbon, you will need to make this a slave via the pins on the back of the DVD/ROM.

Reads all but DVD-Help PLEASE

When you say it won?t read are you trying to play commercial DVD movies or read DVD data disks? If you're trying to play movies then you need a couple of things the first being some type of player program. Real player works as does Windows media player but usually DVD drives come with a striped down version of PowerDVD or WinDVD. If you in fact have a player installed and when a DVD is inserted in your drive it doesn't play it may not be configured to automatically play DVDs. Try opening your player program and trying to manually play your DVD. Let us know if you have any success or if you need more assisted. If you do let us know what player program and operating system you have and any error messages that may appear.
