Access router What is the default IP for accessing the router? 192.168.x.x does not seem to work, so I am at a loss as to what to do. Also, is there any way I can set up port forwarding with it?

There seems to be a lack of info on this model, but, if you go to control panel>network connections and then right click on your network card and click status and then click support tab. Here you will find your pc's ip address and the router address if your router is allocating ip addresses automatically, eg if your router address id not showing but your pc's ip address is 192.168.0.2, then your router may well be 192.168.0.1, or similair. the username will probably be admin and password either admin or 1234, unless you have changed it in which case a hard reset will be required by the way of a button at the rear or underside.

First you should disconnect from the net... change the IP address of your Local Area Connection to 192.168.1.? (the question mark could be any number but 1) then open Internet Explorer, FireFox or whatever browser you use and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. You'll be prompted to enter username and password which are respectedly "root" and "12345". I've tried to portforward using the NAPT section. but... so far no result. let me know if you had any success

Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. . What is the access number ? 192.168.1 doesn't seem to work

Those number look like three fourths of the IP address. It's not the access number. The access number is created by the person who installed your router or it can also be the default number found on the label of the router - consult your router's user manual for a definitive answer.

you need to replace your modem with a router that is capable of running Network Address Translation. You are trying to route private IP's (192,168.x.x) over the public IP (internet) network.

Entered the wrong ip address

Different manufacturers have differing setup so without the details of the make and model of the router in question it a little hard to help.
Most routers will have the ability for you to reset it to factory default by a button or such on the unit itself - refer to the install documentation that you got with the modem - if you dont have it you may need to aska friend to borrow their PC and access the manufactures support pages for help.

Cannot connect to 192.168.1.1

You must check if your PC is getting correct IP from your router by running ipconfig on DOS command. The Default Gateway must shows 192.168.1.1. Just to be sure this IP is accessible, run a ping test (Ping 198.168.1.1).

C:\Users\PC>ping 10.1.1.1

Pinging 10.1.1.1 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64

Ping statistics for 10.1.1.1:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms

C:\Users\PC>

You will see the above results if the test is successful. If it failed, possible a Firewall is blocking the PC to access the Router. Try to disable it and see if it will works. If the same issue or even the test passed but can't access the IP address, reset the router to factory defaults by pressing the small hole at the back of the router. Then do the above steps again to see if you can now access it. Hope this helps.
