Hi
I have been using P72 from past two years and it was working very fine. However in the last two months the pictures that I have taken have strange white lines appearing all over / brightness is too much (objects are not visible at all). Some of the pictures are coming out fine. Can any of you please suggest some remedy for the same? What could be the problem?
Is there a time limit for returning it to Sony?Is there a time limit for returning it to Sony?

The problem is vertical failure. Vertical output section to your TV ahs the fault. You ahve to check the vertcial output circuit for any component failure or loose solderings.
The faint white lines at the top of the screen is the warning that the pump-up capacitor in the vertical output circuit is going bad and the output itself is about to short out. When the TV stops working, the vertical output IC has finally shorted out. Replacing the vertical output IC, the pump-up capacitor and possibly a small value resistor next to the flyback (B+ for the v-out) should bring the set back to life.
It appears this problem is due a failing CCD device in many brand cameras. All the manufactures use the same source(s). I have not persued Casio as yet, but other companies are offering a recall to replace the CCD for free. I plan to use this approach with Casio. Search the web for "failing CCD in digital camera", it describes exactly what we are observing.

If the photo shoot out show white , the obscure (quality
variation), and even horizontal line ( white lines), and so on over-exposure
cases, even if the use of anti-tremor, set to default values are invalid,
because the camera shutter fault.
The shutter is stuck. The electronic "noise" created by the solenoid trying to move the shutter blades causes the lines on your pictures. The bright outdoor pictures is due to the fact that the shutter is jammed open.
You can try tapping the camera on the sides and bottom. This may jar the baldes loose. Failing that, you will have to find a shop that can obtain a replacement lens assembly for your camera.
