I fell asleep in the chair, and when Iwoke up all I had was a blue background which was previously selected, but there is a picture of a lock on the screen and I cannot work out how to remove the lock. I cannot do anything but turn the tv on and off. The remote does not have a lock button. Pleae help, i'm getting crankey surfing every site I can find over the past 24 hrs, and cannot for the life of me find anything to fix this little annoying issue
I have a magnavax mptv68a, the red button is on but the screen is blank, it doesn't even appear to turn on. can you advise me on what to do

Our magnovox remote does not have an obvious 'display' button. I tried to hold each of the coloured buttons down for 10 secs but thru trial and error found the ' display ' button. It is the button that has the rectangle with the + in the top right corner. Hope that helps someone.

On the remote try pressing 0-0-0-0 in that sequence with the TV on... That's Philips / Magnavox default code for the child lock feature. If that works I would then go into the menu and turn off the child lock feature. If that doesn't do it, try unplugging the TV for about five minutes and see if that clears it... If you need the owner's manual you can goto: http://www.magnavox.com/ then click on support center and enter your model number. Good Luck Bill

Thanks Bill I found a simple solution.
Somehow two buttons were pushed at the same time, and it locks the whole TV, I could not even get into the menu.
The solution I found was to hold the display button down for 10 seconds, which removes the lock.
Appears to be a regular problem with the Mangnvox
I'm all fixed and no longer cranky, even though I could not atch the TV for a couple of days.
our tv was off for 3 days because of the lock and thank goodness we read crankys letter,,, thanks cranky and thanks dude for your remedy..simo in tasmania, australia
