After losing my patience when I kept getting the message check align cartridge I pressed every imaginable combination of buttons on my HP all in 0ne psc 2210 printer until I found out that I needed to replace the colour cartridge before my black cartridge would work.
Now I find that all incoming faxes simply print a page covered in BLACK INK.
Could someone please help me as I am losing my incoming faxes and cannot get them re-sent as I do not know who they are from.
Help! Help! I am ready to throw out the printer and move to another planet.

Re: PROBLEM WITH RECEIVING FAXES
You can't move to another planet unless you take me with you!
A couple questions, please.
Can you make a copy?
Did you replace the cartridge with a NEW HP branded cartridge?
BTW I've never left the States, but if I did NZ is the first place I want to see. Is it as great as I imagine it?
Let me know the answers to the first 2 questions anyway

Usually, faxes are temporarily sent to the printer's memory when one of the cartridges' ink level is not substantial for printing at the instance of receiving the fax. When this happens, try to replace the cartridge(s), *without navigating away from the message "fax sent to memory", by opening the printer cover and replacing the low-ink or empty cartridge(s). After the new cartridge is installed, close the printer cover and press the OK button. Your printer should then print the fax stored in the memory. *Make sure not to navigate away from the "fax sent to memory" message, otherwise, data will be lost.
It has to complete the alignment procedure to continue. If any colors or black ink is missing it won't be able to complete the alignment. You can also press a combination of 2 keys to bypass alignment but the message will return later.
If you are making copies or sending/receiving faxes Press Black Start or Color Start. Make sure your ink cartridges are fresh. Cartridges remain fresh for up to two years if kept in their original packaging, after that the ink may become clogged. Cartridge expiration dates are printed on the package.
turn off your machine unplug the power for about 5 mins. disconnect the usb cable from back. Plug back in power, wait until machine fully boots up. Check your cartidges to make sure there in there good and are not lose. Remove them and just put them back in making sure there secure. Then try to aline the cartidges.
Please check rear door area for paper, can you use manual feed slot? Power off machine with all jams removed and paper loaded, then power on, can you tell us exact error message/lights that are shown in this state?
Look for a reset button or hoe to reset in the manual
This is usually done by pressing a combination of buttons on the printer side with the power off- and whilst holding down powering up.
If the manual does not tell you- it will be trial and error.
