I have no instruction book is there a free one I can down load?

You can find a free PDF copy of the owner's manual for the Sansa C200 series MP3 players on the Sansa site at the following address:

http://www.sansa.com/sites/default/files/downloads/c200-ug-eng.pdf

There is no specific manual for the C250 itself since each series has basically the same function as other models within that series. The varying model numbers is merely to differentiate the amount of memory that model has.

You mayl have to check to see which version of the C200 you have if you intend to use MicroSD's in it since there are two different versions of the C200. Version 1 only supports MicroSD memory while Version 2 supports MicroSDHC. You can tell which Version you have by checking the first two digits of the firmware level. Version 1 has a firmware level starting with 01 (probably 010100p for US and Asia-Pacific models, 010100e for Europe without FM support and 010100f for Europe with FM support). Version 2 has one starting with 03 (probably 030205a for most current USA firmware with e for non-FM Europe and f for FM Europe).

Hope this helps you.

USB not getting recognized

Sansa c200 series – Computer/OS Not Recognizing
Connect the device to the PC in MSC Mode
View/c200: Turn on then press and hold the rewind button while plugging to the PC
If that fails, unplug the Sansa from the computer. Uninstall all the Sansa software in the add/remove programs section of Control Panel. Reinstall the clean version of the software from Sandisk’s website – make sure you get the files for the c200 series. Then replug the Sansa and try again. The root of the problem is that Sansa has one set of drivers and Windows has another. If you plug the mp3 player into the computer before installing the Sansa drivers, the Windows drivers will trump the Sansa’s.
Here is a helpful link from Sandisk on the problem with extra information on Vista operating systems:

Ghost Files

I would run the Sansa Recovery Tool for the c200 series - it will erase/format all the songs without deleting system files - it is available from Sandisk's website.

Drivers for sansa c250

You can't plug the same mp3 player into a MAC and a PC - one erases the formatting of the other. Run the Sansa Recovery Tool for the c200 series - it is available from the Sandisk website. Also, here is a link to the full user manual:

Do you use windows media player 10 or 11 to sync music into the mp3 player? and have you updated firmware? Go to sansa.com and download a firmware updater and then try formatting the mp3 player, use WM and click on the arrow below sync and go to format.
