Alert/Alarm for key/headlights no longer sounds

There used to be an alert that would sound if I left my keys in the ignation or the headlights on. Now I find myself forgetting to turn the lights off and leaving the keys in the ignation! No fuses are labled for this problem in the fuse box. Any ideas?

The owners manual should help shed some light on this problem. The car may be somewhat programable for the alerts and warning systems. You may also need to lubricate the door button that senses the door is open and closed. Good luck.

SOURCE: 02 CRV:When my lights or keys alert does not tell me.

I had the same problem with the lights alarm on my 2002 CRV. The alarm is linked in to the door open switch on the drivers side. If you open the door, about half way down on the centre post you'll see a rubber covered push switch. This is held in place by a single phillips screw. Remove the screw and gently pull out the cover. On mine, the wires had become unclipped from behind and just had to be reconnected (push fit).

Apparently this is a fairly common problem caused by the seatbelt being caught in the door and catching the switch.

Have you left the headlights on? It could be the alert for removing the key while the headlight switch is still turned on.

I turn key to on. car won't start. Dashboard display shows wait three minutes. I wait three minutes and the car starts

sounds like your problem is with the cars alarm system. this message will come up after the alert is tripped and the key is put in the ignition switch to start the car.
