HOW TO REPLACE DOOR SWITCH ON A GE STOVETOP MICROWAVE

Most microwave ovens use generic "microswitches" for door switching. You will need to open your oven, and find what they look like, and then match them.

but any electronics distributor will have them. Inexpensive, only a few dollars eacy. My ovens actually use 4 switches on the doors, and more than one were bad.

Most commonly problem of Microwave Oven is the interlock switch in its door hinges. Since it is emitting microwave rays, it was built with such interlock switch to avoid exposure of human to said rays. So check first the continuity and functionality of said door switch.

Bad door switch. Look for burnt terminals on one of the door switches. Replace the switch and cut off the burnt terminals and splice on new ones.

ge over the range microwaves have this problem . for some reason the plastic sort of melts but not realy (please check hinge for wear and adjust if ness ) , it just gets out of shape from the heat and this makes the switches not work properly . most likely the micro is too close to the stovetop . see your manual about that and you can buy the slideing plastic parts where the switches are , its just big $$$$ if the micro is to close it will happen again GOOD LUCK

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This often can affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inopoerable or stuck on.
