Just repaired one of these for this exact problem... Lamp is most likely defective, which is a Xl2100u lamp Sony p/n# A1606034b about $175.00

I would check the power supply for bad capacitors. The caps look like small "barrells" AND THE END WILL BE BULGED OUT IF THEY ARE BAD. Very inexpensive rapair if you do it yourself, caps are around $2 each.

I turn tv on, works for two minutes, shuts off and the stand by light blinks 34 times and turns back on for two minutes then shuts down, stand by light blinks 34 times and keeps repeating.

My sony grand wegar tv keeps turning its self off and on can you help My Grand Wega turns itself off after a couple minutes.....red standby light will flash for aprox 30 seconds and then TV turns itself...

From what it seems in your question... the problem has already went away... However, I actually know about this. There is a fuse inside the tv near the power button called B-3a... If you replace that fuse it should help fix permanently
