The power supply has died. I think its the transformer. Can I get replacement parts, or can I get hold of schematics so I can try figure out how to fix it.

Thanks for trying, however the power supply on the PortaStudio 424 mk II, is an internal circuit board with a transformer and some componnents on it.

Okay I have found two solutions here. They may both be the same but the information here is kind of vague so I will post them both. I have found a PS-PS5 power supply as the title suggests. It can be found here: http://www.supermediastore.com/tascam-ps-ps5-power-supply-for-trainer-series.html I have also found a power supply for the Tascam 424 mkii which can be found here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Tascam-PSP424-Replacement-Power-Supply_W0QQitemZ7405614833QQcmdZViewItem Hope this helps!

Tascam 424 portastudio mkII power supply

My mistake this is a 424 mkIII not a mkII. Sorry for the typo. Great news is I opened the power supply case and un-soldered the fuse. cleaned it off with tarn-x and behold 3 amps 250 volts. Definatly worth the $1.00 im gonna have to pay for that. As for the **** that was gonna charge me a $100 bucks. There is a reason you are doing that to people. And one day your services will be obsolete.

Tascam dp01 fx cd.. OOPS!!! Please help.

Depending on the voltage that your laptop uses, if that voltage exceeds the Tascam required voltage you might have burned out the Tascam power board. Not good. I know you don't want to replace the entire unit. Try contacting Tascam directly they might give your an alternative in just replacing the power assembly.

Tascam 2488 Portastudio screen.

You could add an HGR monitor interface module to display the 2488 on a PC monitor.

That way you don't need to look at a damaged display and the 2488 (MK1, MKII and NEO) work just like before.

Play and Record button not working

I have the same problem with all three of my Tascam 2488 MKII's.
It's a software problem and starts to show up when the harddisk gets full.

Backup your song files ( something you have to do anyway ) and then reformat the entire hard disk.
Then restore the songs you were working on lately.

Before doing this rather huge task, you can copy your latest song to another partition and go on with this copy.
This is only a provisional solution.

Hope this helps !
