This printer has been sitting for at least six months; maybe longer. It has plenty of yellow ink left, but it won't print any yellow color. what do i do?
Take all the cartridges out. Get a wet tissue paper or better still a 'moist wipe' put it on a plate stand the cartridges on Does the print head come off on this model? If so do that same with the print head. Always print something in Full colour at lease once a week. If you are unable to do this then take the cartridges out put them in a plastic bag with damp tissue to stop them drying out and store in a cool place Also go to www.fixyourownprinter.com

Eight flashes: Waste ink absorber almost full
The printer has a built-in waste ink absorber for the ink used during Print Head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that the waste ink absorber is nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, contact a Canon service representative.
Important
Canon recommends that you call for service as soon as this error occurs. Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, printing will no longer be possible
