If the lamp and standby lights are both flashing and the timer light is off, check that the lamp cover on the back of the TV is properly positioned in the groove and secured by the screw. Take it off and check that the screws that hold the lamp itself are secure. There is an safety feature that keeps the lamp from turning on when the lamp cover is off.

If the three lights (timer, lamp, and standby) are blinking, then the lamp needs to be replaced. If the timer and standby lights are blinking and the lamp light is off, then a cooling fan isn't working. When only the standby light is blinking and the other lights are off, the unit is overheating and a ventilation area may be blocked.

I have not repaired this particular model. But sometimes there is an IC they refer to as a standby IC. It may also be known as a controller IC. I call it the powerline regulator. And in one case the older Sony Projection TV had an audio output IC with a standby built into this IC. So,this advice is refering to a standby IC. And this IC may be in another form already mentioned. Please visit a Sony Tech. The work inside a projection TV is very complicated, you will need to see the specialist. Yeah, it is not lamp problem. Check fans in tv as one of fan is stopped for some reason and causing problem.

The lamp light does not have to flash on this set for it to be the lamp, and most likely it is just that, the lamp. These sets when the lamps get weak they will do exactly what yours is doing.

If the lamp has been replaced I would think the Lamp ballast would be most likliest followed by the color wheel and then the Digital board. You can get any part needed for your model at www.tvrepairworld.com just leave them a email they respond quickly.

if it's under 1 year old, it's still under warranty, so send it in and get it fixed for free.

The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes three times
If your power/standby indicator is flashing in a pattern of three flashes, this may indicates that the lamp cover is not attached securely. Follow the directions in the Operating Manual under changing your lamp that related to closing and securing the Lamp Cover. Ensure that the Lamp Cover Door is securely fastened by tightening each screw.

The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes continously
If your power/standby indicator is flashing continuously, and the lamp cover has been secured, your TV may be in need of service.

The POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit up green (not flashing)
A sustained green light indicates your TV is on.

Is it the power light and not the lamp light? If the lamp light is flashing then replace the lamp.
