I called Canon about this. They had me tweak the transmission start speed (Menu>FAX setting>TX settings>TX start speed). It was too fast. Set it to 4800. Then it was too slow. Clicked it up to 7200 and now it works!! TX Start Speed should not be too fast or too slow.

My Brother MFC7340 Fax Machine will not send faxes it has a busy signal always and a busy signal when someone tries to fax me.

Hi,
You need to reset the memory, since previously you have dialed some number, which is not able to connect. So restart the printer. Unplug the printer for 10 minutes and plug back the power to the printer.

Hope this helps.

I have a Brother fax machine. When I dial a number to send a fax, there is a noise on the speaker in addition to the fax dialing and it defaults into a busy signal. What should I do?

The number u are dialing is either busy or someting is wrong with the phone line thus not connecting to the other party. The fax set up may be confiqurated wronlgy.

BUSY SIGNAL UNABLE TO RECIEVE FAX

You should unplug your fax machine from the phone wire and call your fax number to see if it is still busy. If it is then you have some other device sharing the line that is holding the line busy or a short in a wire. Remove all other devices (computer modem, credit card machine, cable/satellite box, alarm system etc) and check again. If it is still busy you may have to call your phone company to have them diagnose the problem. If the line is cleared start adding each device back to the line and check between each to see if the line busy's up. If it does it may be the device or the wire (the wire may be damaged and shorting the line).

We cannot receive faxes. Gives a busy signal.

Unplug the phone line from the machine. Wait a few minutes then try calling your fax number from a phone while leaving the phone line disconnected from the machine. If it rings fine from the phone, then re-install the phone line to the fax machine. Try making the call again. If you now get a busy signal then the modem in your fax machine has gone bad and is holding the line open. Make sure when installing the phone line you are placing the cord into the "line" port on the machine and not the phone port.
Good Luck and thank you for using Fixya.

When trying to fax, iam getting a fast busy signal, this problem just strated

This could be related to the fax machine, but more than likely it's a phone line issue. Try sending a fax manually by using the fax machine's speaker or "on-hook", then manually dial the number. Listen carefully as the machine dials and make sure it's even dialing out. Do not hit start until you hear the other fax machine pick up. If the "fast" busy signal occurs before dialing is complete or right after, have your phone line checked.

Trouble faxing

Check the fax line with a regular phone and dial a fax number to listen for fax tones.
