Screen issues Originally bought in 2005. We replaced the lamp bulb in 2011, now every time we turn on tv, it says reset lamp , also we get red vertical lines about an inch apart , all across tv, then in left lower portion of screen a green glow, circle around 4 inches, how can we correct this, also would it be cheaper to buy new tv, and what brand and type would you recommend? The red vertical lines come and go as does the green glow.

I think better to replace the set as all this sounds like a light engine failing.

SOURCE: Lamp Light Red - No Screen Image

It could be the a problem with the lamp ballist circuit, or just a bad lamp socket, or simply a bad lamp. The only way to tell is to call out a servicer as that would be alot less expensive then to get a new lamp and then that not be the problem. These problems can be a little hair pulling at times, thats why i have no hair left!! LOL Good Luck

SOURCE: Green spot / glow in center left side of Panasonic PT-61LCX65 LCD Projection HDTV

This unit has a chonic issue with corruption in the eeprom that causes spots and shadows. The correction is to find some service center that has the jig to hook up to your unit and correct the eeprom. This is an extended warranty issue with Panasonic and if you contact them they should be able to refer you a qualifed service center and Panasonic will pay.

SOURCE: replaced lamp in toshiba 46hm84. still get

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. Here's the instructions to replace it :http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp47-00033a.php The ballast is the most common failure besides the lamp. The ballast is the one that displays the lamp indicator if it's not able to power bulb or if bulb is not responding.Have a blessed one!

This indicates problems with the image engine. (Lamp does not control the colour). If the TV has not been cleaned recently, excessive dust build up internally may have overheated the image engine. If Sony will not cover it, you might want to consider a new TV.

Testimonial: "thanks, tv is only two years old and don't want to buy another one. Hope it is not the image engine."

Trying to replace lamp in HDTV and having trouble. Does not function correctly after putting in new bulb. Boots up and then visuals go black and the green power light keeps flashing. Help?

Panasonic DLP TV Bulbs

Make sure its an original Osram or Philips bulb inside the housing. If its a cheap lamp it will act this way. If it is an original lamp, then you may have a power supply issue. It shouldn't affect your TV but you may want to try resetting the lamp timer by following the instructions that came with the lamp.

TY-LA1001 Timer reset

While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the number 0 button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds.

Theres no picture

I have the same tv as you with the same problem. I'm sorry I have no solution for you but I can tell you that it will keep happening over and over and over again. We have had ours for just about 3 years now and have had to replace the lamp 6 times (it does the same thing to us, sound but no picture and then turns itself off) you can try to push the system reset button on the front panel of your tv but most likely that won't work. We have also replaced the fan and the light fixture twice. Best Buy (where we bought the tv) has now spent double what we originally spent on it just to "fix" it. I would recommend fixing the bulb and selling it as quick as you can unless you want to spend over $1000 a year on maintenance. We know 2 other people with the same tv just a smaller size and they have both had the same problems we are having. This model obviously has a major problem but neither Mitsubishi or Best Buy want to do anything about it other than temporarily fix it until my warranty wares out. Get out while you can is my advice to you.

Have you actually replaced the lamp first? A weakened lamp will often cause random shutdown or troubles during initial firing of the lamp. The LG televisions will be just the bulb itself not the complete lamp assembly. It's not hard to replace the bulb as long as you first allow the TV to cool down for a minimum of an hour. Then you will want to handle the lamp with latex gloves on to avoid getting oils from your skin on the bulb. You can find your bulb replacement at http://www.partstore.com

I cannot reset my lamp clock

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080221185527AAvGCui

I just now replaced my lamp and tried the solution on the above bookmarked site (hold down VOL- on the TV itself while holding down the SPLIT button on the TV remote simultaneously for several seconds... I didn't need all 20 seconds that this site recommends), and that worked for me. About 5-10 seconds in, I saw a blue box on my screen that basically said "Lamp timer has been reset to 0" with an "Exit" box below that. It took me a while to find the "Exit" button on my remote control to clear that box off the screen, but that's how I cleared it.

My TV is just short of 3 years old; I bought my Panasonic PT-52LCX65 on "Black Friday" (day after Thanksgiving) in 2005. My lamp died last Saturday night.

Hope this helps! -- ChuckE
