SOURCE: external monitor with acer aspire 5520

Ok, first, as for your hard drive, 9 times out of 10 your hard drive is fine if you don't hear a clicking noise. Also have you try-ed plugging in your s-video cable to the monitor or vga cable to the screen? after you turn on the laptop with the power on? I can help you with hooking up you laptop to the monitor, just drop me your e-mail address.

Have a nice day!

SOURCE: hp pavilion ze5500 display monitor still doesn't work

IT could be a motherboard problem with the function key that controls the switching of the video infomation between the LCD screen and the external video connector.
It could be the function key circuitry on the motherboard that controls the back lighting levels on the LCD.

hmmm, f4 + function key should do the trick, you might have to press several times to scroll through modes. If that does do the trick, see if you can view bios with external connected on boot.

I have an HP Pavilion a4000. It just stopped working a couple days ago. Display just rolled up and quit. I've been through everything I know how to deal with. When you push the power button it

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Power on a hp mother board

As a student of electronics, you would be a better judge of the worth of the Laptop Parts in YOUR hands. As a project in what you can make work from parts , why not. As a workable, useful machine , doubtful. Ask yourself, Is it a project, and you have access to Misc. computer parts that will fit this or do I have to invest Time and Money , and end up with nothing but a jumble of broken computer parts. Do your self a favor, List the working Spare Parts on Ebay, make a few bucks and 1, Have a few beers, 2, Save the money towards buying a good used computer.

The wireless on this computer keeps dropping -- but it will only do it in spurts. It will go for about a day dropping the 'net and then the same thing will happen a couple of weeks later. Any idea

From the description the wifi card has become intermittent, try removing the card and reseating it back in places making sure the antenna wires are attached to the card and in the right order.

Nope, you've got to live with it. Since it's slight, why worry about it?
