Hi, The nozzle may be blocked. So take out the colour cartridge and place its nozzle in a bit of water for about 10 mins. Bring it out and dab the nozzle with folded paper. If the tissue is blotted with the three colour it means you have unblocked the nozzle. Try now to print after returning the colour cartridge. You may need to repeat to get good results. Thank you!!
I have a brother MFC 3240C. My Black ink stopped printing(initially printed horizontal faded lines and gradually got worse), the other colors were printing fine. I tried cleaning numerous time( 50 -100 times over 1-2 weeks ). Still no improvement. The way I print now is:
1. I go to Printer Properties
2. Change Media type from "Plain Paper" to "Inkjet Paper".
3. Change Quality to "Photo".
This takes a long time to print 1-2 minutes per page. However, this works for me since this is my Home printer and use it for printing only few pages here are there.
The print head is clogged.Try powerful cleaning: Press menu, then start black copy, then four times arrow-up quickly after another.Machine will be in maintenance mode (all lights will flash). Press 7-6-4 and OK (or start-black-copy). When finished press 7-6-3 then start black copy, printer will do a power purge. Leave maintenance mode by pressing 9-9. If this not help better think about new printer, because cost of repairing this one is profitable.
Seems like this is a problem for everyone. Try a test page (in printer function) It could be that the heads were destroyed if your previous cartridge ran dry.
My yellow cartridge was doing the same thing as your black. So I took the cartridge out, and took a flashlight to see how it works. There is like a little straw on the right hand side which goes up into the printer cartridge, this I assume is to measure the ink. I took a needle and cleaned that 'straw' thoroughly. Reseated the ink, ran cleaning and test print, and then the printer found the yellow ink! You could give that a try. It might work for you too. (I have never used any ink but Brother ink in the printer, btw.)
unplug maqchine from power. take all carts out. wait 5 minutes. connect machine to power. insert carts as demanded. give the right answer if machine asks if the carts are changed. machine will do some cleaning.
do you use generic ink? in that case you might have clogged the printhead with wrong ink. The ph cant be cleaned anymore.
nevertheless try this (carts should be nearly full!): press menue then start mono (blue copy) then fourtimes arrow up. machine will be in maintenance mode. press 7 then 6 then 4. Machine will display init_all. press start mono. machine will refill tubes and ph with fresh ink and do some cleaning. after that press 7 then 6 then 3 and start mono. machine will do a powerpurge. press zero then 9 to do a quality test print. If it cant do the job leave maintenance by pressing 9 then 9. do the test print manually by pressing ink etc.
If you still do not see any colors the ph is clogged and cant be fixed anymore. It has to be replaced.
Unplug machinepowercord. Open printer and take all carts out. Plug in power. Machine demands carts. Put new one in: Replace with original ink carts!. When asked push 1 (yes New cart).
If you have used thirdparty carts, there could be a prob due to construticon or ink quality.
In case there is no bk after 3x cleaning cycles anymore, the head is clogged: This happens because the filter in front of the nozzels is clogged by pigmented ink.
DO USE ONLY DYE INK for all types of brother inkjet machines!!!
Use another new genuine (original brother) BK cart. Do the cleaning twice only for BK. Wait some time (4 hours). If the ink has dryed up, the cleaning ink will break up the dryed one. Do the cleaning again. If it doesnt work, please write again.
Do use original brother ink to fix the problem:
Do the cleaning twice (All colors and bk). You should see some blocks of the missing colors. If not printhead is damaged and cant be repaired (Dryed out or damaged valve or clogged with particles).
If machine displays unable to clean, search googl for ERROR 46 (Reset and change of waist inktank)
