Question about GoVideo VR4940 DVD Player/VCR

1 Answer

DVD Player/recorder After a few years, the machine stops recognizing DVDs. When you put them in, it says it's not recognized, and spits them back out. These are factory DVDs that have played in the past. Is there something that degrades the player's ability to read discs over time?

I HAVE A GOVIDEO DVD RECORD + VCR VR4940. THE DVD'S WILL NOT STAY IN THE MACHINE. THE DISK CAN NOT BE READ. IN THE PAST, I WOULD HAVE A SPINNING DISK ICON THAT DOES NOT SHOW UP ANY LONGER. IT WILL NOT PLAY BACK ANY MOVIES PREVIOUSLY RECORDED ON THE SAME MACHINE. WILL CLEANING THE GO VIDEO DRIVE REALLY SOLVE THE PROBLEM? IF THIS METHOD DOES NOT WORK IS IT EXPENSIVE TO FIX OR AM I BETTER SERVED REPLACING WITH ANOTHER COMBO? ARE THERE BETTER COMBO I SHOULD BE LOOKING AT?

    THANK YOU.

MY 1ST ENTRY DID NOT GO THROUGH. I HAVE A DVD RECORDER + VCR VR4940. THE DISK IS NOT BEING READ AND ALL TYPES OF DVD'S ARE BEING EJECTED. THE USUAL SPINNING DVD ICON IS NOT THERE. THE PREVIOUS RECORDED MOVIES DO NOT PLAY, EVEN THOUGH, THEY WHERE RECORDED FROM THE SAME MACHINE. WILL CLEANING DISK DRIVE SOLVE THE PROBLEM OR SHOULD I BE LOOKING FOR A NEW COMBO? IF I NEED A NEW DVD/VCR DO RECOMMEND ANY PARTICULAR MODELS? IT HAS TO BE DURABLE, SINCE I DO YOU RECORD OFTEN.

    THANK YOU

I have a GoVideo VCR/DVD player/recorder - the video part works fine, but the DVD player keeps reading 'bad disc'. The DVD disc works fine in another player, and also works fine in my computer. These are factory direct DVD's.

WHEN I PUT A DVD IN THE MACHINE IT SPITS IT STRAIGHT OUT AND WON'T IDENTIFY THAT THERE IS A DVD IN THERE, THEREFORE I CAN'T PLAY DVDS.

I have a Philips 615 DVD recorder that has worked wonderfully since I got it in 2005. However, this weekend it decided to stop reading any DVD put into the tray. I was recording something and finalized it....

Sometimes a blank DVD will not be the proper format. Upgrades have been done to DVD-R disks, and your recorder might not recognize the upgraded format on the newer disks. This has happened with Philips, Emerson machines- they all use a Funai burner. I have found with my FUNAI/Philips/Emerson recorder that purchasing the Philips, 1-16 speed DVD-R blank disks fixes this problem on my 2 machines. If you have an older DVD-RW 2 speed disk, it should work as well.

I have a 2001 Honda Crv, the cd player keeps ejecting CDs before it has the chance to load them. The radio works fine, and I gave tried burnt and original disc CDs. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Are these CDs that you burned yourself? Older CD players won't recognize the audio file format of this kind of recording, only the established file format that typical retail CDs have used for years. In recent years, CD players have been developed to recognize more file types than just the old format; but with an older player like you have in your car, it wouldn't recognize what you were trying to play, as if you put a DVD in. It balks, and spits it out. You can burn CDs with the correct file format, you just need the appropriate software or file translator.

I have a few DVD+R dvds that I had partially recorded on, but not finalized yet. Now When I put them in it says loading and then says Unknown disc. However it loads movie dvds bought in stores just

Is it that you want to record more data on them? If so, fill up the remaining available space, then finalize. That will be your only solution to this problem.

Go into device manager and delete that disk drive and then reboot and it should reinstall it. That will separate the drivers and put the old one back.

Dvd player wont recognize newly burned dvd

Give this a try : write a DVD at 1x speed (lowest speed) and test it on your laptop. If this works ok then either use better media or lower (e.g half) your writing speed........

Won't read DVDs

Hi, Ive just repaired several liteon's ( incidently they are identical inside to some philips models ). In most cases the non writing or non reading problem is caused by dust on the laser glass. You have to open the unit then remove the dvd drive then remove its covers and just give a wipe of the laser with a clean non fluffy cloth. If theres lots of dust in other parts of the drive then this will need to be removed also as it could easily get onto the laser when in use. Even almost new liteons can suffer the problem , it only needs a little bit of dust to top the laser shining onto the dvd , instead the dust just reflects the light back. Hope this helps.
