Hello, I have stumbled upon this site and read your great reviews.
I have been given an RCA 56" projection HDTV ready television. The previous owners said it took a serge one night the pic went out and smelled something burning. I have pluged it in and it gets power did not smell anything burning. do you have any ideas on what could be the problem and or how much it would take to fix. Hoping a fuse or something simple. I have ET type friends who could look at it if i know what to tell them to look at. I know this would cut down on the cost of labor. If the tv is actually worth saving I would concider paying the labor for an expert to fix. But do not know if it is even worth the time to trouble shoot and fix. Any suggestions would be greately appreciated.

It is in shutdown mode. You have an "overvoltage" (regulation) problem or their is a short in one of the many components causing it to be in "over current" mode. Could be as simple as a bad solder connection. This will take someone with some knowledge of the circuits and test equipment to diagnose.
The flyback Number 259296 is available at the following link with free instructions, or they also have the ITC222 deflection board as well which is the board with the flyback on it. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
