Question about GE 27938 Cordless Phone

Blown Resistor 2

When I plug the base into the wall socket, and then put my handset on the base, the charging light does not come on and the phone will not work. I took the phone apart and have deduced that the problem could be a resistor that has melted. It is so bad that I cannot ascertain what size of resistor that it is(can't tell color code). It is resistor # 110. If anyone could tell me what size of resistor that is, it would be great. I can't ry to charge the handset any ohter way right now because the resistor in question has been removed so that I could test it and make sure that it was blown.

How to register a new handset?

Unfortunately, the EXI5560 is not an expandable cordless telephone system. The base can only use the handset to which it was originally linked at the factory.

Similarly, the DXA15588 handsets need to be paired to that base, not just to any Uniden cordless phone base. The first handset gets registered while it is charging in the main base. Charge the second handset fully in the charging base. Make sure not to use the phone for any incoming calls during the registration process. Take the first handset off the main base. You do not have to put this handset on the other charger and put second handset on the main base. Wait for the Charge/In Use LED to begin to flash. Wait at least another 5 seconds before removing the second handset from the main base. That's when you should be able to use the find HS button on the DXA15588-2 main base to get both handsets to beep.

I hope this helps. You can find the manuals for these phones at the following sites: https://www.uniden.info/download/ompdf/EXI5560om.pdf and https://www.uniden.info/download/ompdf/DXAI5588-2om.pdf .

What is meant when screen says out of range

You will need to take your handset closer to the base because the signal is weak and out of range. Try locating the charging base in a more central location. If this doesn't work try this.
You can first try a Basic Reset.
A reset is done by following the below steps:
1. Disconnect the battery from handset(s)
2. Disconnect Phone Cord from wall jack
3. Disconnect Phone cord from base unit
4. Disconnect AC adapter from wall outlet
5. Allow to sit for 30 min
6. Reconnect Phone Cord to base
7. Reconnect Phone cord to wall jack
8. Reconnect AC Adapter to wall outlet
9. Reconnect battery into handset until you click or feel the plug snap into place
10. Re-Register Handset by placing on main base

My new phones will not take a charge

Lets start from scratch. Make sure your wall outlet has power. Plug in a working electrical device such as a lamp, radio or vacuum cleaner. It the wall socket works, plug the base back i the socket and make sure it isnt loose or falls out of the socket. Then make sure the other end of the cord is securely plugged into the base. Also make sure the battery in the handset is sucurely and ?correctly in place and the handset is also surcurely in the crade(base) so the metal contacts of the handset are touching the base metal contacts. U may have to let the phone fully charge overnight for 8 hrs while your sleeping without trying to use it. If this doesnt work, u may need new replacement batteries or a battery pack(whichever your phone has) by taking the origional battery to your local electronic store.

It will not ring and the base will not register

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Please follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Connect the charger and then plug the power supply unit into the wall socket.
Now insert the two batteries supplied
To register your handset to a base station, place it in the main base station with the display facing upward. After approx. one minute, the handset's internal number is Displayed (e.g. 2). Successful registration is signaled by a confirmation tone. Replace the newly registered handset into the charger and leave to charge for Approximately 16 hours. The charging status icon flashes on the handset to indicate that the batteries are being charged.

To register it manually:

Press the MENU options button.
Press the DOWN button until the display shows REGISTER HS.
Press the OK button. Display shows PIN.
Enter your 4-digit Pin (original setting 0000).
Press the OK button. Display flashes REGISTER HS.
Following the user guide for the base station you are registering to place the base into registration mode.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

How do we complete a basic set up for Plantronic CS70 VT head piece?

Plug in powerpack to the base unit.
Unplug the handset with the curly cord from the phone and place both aside.
A short cord connects between the Handset socket on the PHONE and the PHONE socket on the BASE UNIT.(socket is near the power socket)
the HANDSET and curly cord plugs into the socket near the front of the base unit- it's the one that's extreemly hard to plug in!
Charge for 12 hours before use
Call someone and get them to stay on the phone while you turn the rotary knob (may need a screwdriver) on the side- keep turning it until you can hear each other
look for orange light as you hang it up to indicate that it's chaging

Done!
Good Luck!

Just bought an additional handset for GE 27951 expandable 6.0 DECT Cordless. I press and hold the Page button for 5 seconds but the new handset will not register. Error keeps occurring "no base."

This exact thing happened to me. Same model number. No matter what I did, the new handsets would not register.

The solution? Reset the entire system:
1. On the BASE - Unplug from wall both power and phone line. Unplug battery from base handset.
2. ON the Extension phone - unplug from wall and unplug battery from handset.
3. Wait AT LEAST 5 minutes.
4. Plug back in BASE power.
5. Plug back in BASE phone line.
6. Plug back in EXTENSION handset battery. Don't plug in BASE handset yet.
7. Follow steps to program EXTENSION. When successful:
8. Plug back in BASE handset battery.

Blown Resistor

because the phone will not work, first prove that it can. Try this: remove the battery and charge it. Read the voltage on the battery label. Read the voltage on the charger label. If the numbers match, then connect 2 wires to the battery from the charger (use tape) with positive terminals on one wire and negatives the other. after charge...about 2 hours, does the phone work?

Lost comunication

I solved this problem with a RESET of the handset. Instructions from the Philips website: Please perform a reset of your device. You will not loose your recorded data (phonebook and personal settings are being kept). 1. Unplug the mains of the base station. 2. Remove one of the batteries of each handset. 3. Put the batteries back in and re-plug the mains of the base station.
