My Compaq Mini keep on asking me to enter a password at startup stage and I can't remembered my password. The setup is also asking the same. Please what do I do. Here is the error I get after 3 at

Basically it's resetting windows password using a bootable linux usb memory stick. Use Ubuntu Linux To Reset Your Windows Password

Do a system factory restore.

I have tried few tools in the past. In my opinion I would go for Windows Password Reset Deluxe. It supports all Windows versions,no matter the windows you're is Windows 7,XP,or Vista ect.It's simple and safe.

on startup time press F8 for no of times.From option click repair and continue with instruction,When asking for password ,change user name and click enter

You can try fixing the MBR if you have a spare windows disk handy.

1. Put in the windows disk, then restart the computer
2. If using a Windows XP disk, wait until the setup process starts and it asks if you want to install or enter recovery mode, press R to enter recovery mode. If you're using Windows 7, put in the CD, select your language and keyboard options, then select "Repair My Computer" on the bottom left.
   

• XP: Press 1 then enter to select the windows installation. When it asks for the administrator password, type it if you know it. If you don't, it's probably blank, so just hit enter to go past this screen.
• That will take you to a C: Prompt, at which you type fixmbr. That should solve your problem.
• Windows 7: Select the OS (if none's listed, just select "next"), then click "Startup Repair". That should find/fix any startup problems. Try running it 3-4 times if it hasn't solved the problem, sometimes it takes multiple runs.

That should solve your problems, but if not the answer is to do a new installation, unfortunately. You can use the System Rescue CD to pull off any data that you need to save, then re-install the operating system and put your data back on.

Remove the cmos battery for 5 - 10 minutes. That will reset all data in the bios.

are you able to start the pc and boot dos for example?

if you can start the pc with a windows 98 startup disk for example

you can get the bios reset with debug program, if its not on the startup disk you need to get it online.

go to ur bios set up and change ur password..

At some stage you may have activated the password in your setup especially the Administrator one. Can you get into the setup at the beginning....you might be able to disable it.
