I had the same problem. Had to strip the machine down to get to the motor. On the top is a moving plate with various capacitors etc mounted. On the front side there was a Capacitor (At least I think it was) with the wire broken.
I resoldered it and the machine now works fine.

the difference between A701A and A901 is :

high speed outlet
slow speed outlet

planetary hub is similar . A701A, A901 and KM series

A701 Different planetary hub and fit different tools.

is not same A720 and A920 A7 = A701/A
A9 = A901 and KM

My kenwood mixer will not mix, the liquidiser works ok but the mixer rotates very slowly.

Hi, maybe you have 3 problems:

1 the tooth belt its nearly broken.
2 Problem in some gears
3 If its model A701/A check the back cover, and the pin in the top. its in good condition
