Open a MS Word Document, select 'Tools' then 'Letters and mailings' then 'Envelopes and labels...'

Envelopes and Lables dialogue box opens - ensure you are on the 'envelopes' tab

Then type your recipient address in the larger white box

for standard letter envelope (DL 220m x 110mm) - Insert envelope into Brother HL-2030 manual feed, with print side up, gummed flaps down and to the left side (bring gray plastic guides in close to secure).

Then select print.

I have found that during the feed, one end of the envelope gets a little bit crumpled but overall it's still a little bit more professional looking than my handwriting.

My new Brother HL-2030 is connected to my Mac OS X, present as 'idle, default' (green light so all ok). But when I try to print, in the print queue, it says it's 'printing' for about 1 second and then says...

Hi

Just set up new printer with the same name and set it as default printer. When it prints the test page, then it solves your problem. Delete the old printer icon.

I have a brother HL-2140/2170W Monochrome Laser Printer and don't know if I can print envelopes from this printer. It doesn't appear to have an envelope feeder.???

It can cause creased envelopes when printing on envelopes......but if you consult the manual there are fuser tension adjustment switches that solves that for perfect envelope printing (Settings, A, B and Envelope).

Brother HL-2030 continually prints test pages

disconnect the printer from your pc and clear out all print jobs... leave it on and let it sit for a day... if no test page prints then the problem is your pc... if it starts printing like crazy then reset it via page 54 of the user guide if it still prints like crazy with the network cable or usb cable disconnected then you need to call brothers tech support but more than likely it shouldn't do anything... if this is the case... the problem is your pc... or your server...

Bends envelopes in printing

Most laser printers have an "S" paper path. They cannot help bending paper. I would suggest you print lables instead of envelopes if you send several letters. If you only send 1, hand address the envelope. Not elegant ut it works.

Printing envelopes on HL4040CN

I just bought a HL-4040CN and all my envelopes wrinkled, regardless of the size, paper thickness or software settings (thin envelope, thick envelope, etc.). Here's how I solved the problem....Open the rear panel and you'll notice a small gray lever on each side, which is probably pointing to "A" on the scale (A, B, Envelope). Move both levers to "Envelope" and close the back panel. The troubleshooting manual says the levers should be moved back to "A" after printing the envelopes, but I left them in the Envelope position and can't see any difference when printing regular or test pages or envelopes, except the envelopes are no longer wrinkled. I called Brother and asked them if there was any reason why the levers can't stay in the Envelope position, and they told me they could be left there if it wasn't negatively affecting other documents. Now, I have a great printer that prints everything without any problems. Hope this helps.

Envelope printing

You need to insert the envelope in the manual feed area and open the exit door at the back this allows the envelope to go straight through the printer hopefully limiting creasing. Check the envelope settings in windows make sure that you are using the correct size and feed selection.

Thanks J
