You will need to clean the line from the dispenser to the tub.

The fabric conditioner is not taken up by the machine -it stays in the tray? I have cleaned the tray in side and outside. Done a service wash at a high temperature with biological washing powder.

Fabric conditioner draw not emptying. Checked inlet holes and cleaned the draw and slot. Still not working.

Hi Ryan from retired Englishman in SW France,

Fabric conditioner drawer not emptying

I hope you don't mind me saying so but often the softener dispensing siphon tube gets missed when cleaning the dispenser 'cos it's difficult to see!----------->
It will normally have some sort of cover over it which you must remove to expose the little stuck up pipe/tube. On some models there is just a small individual cap over the tube. The tube is down which the conditioner and water should siphon. It is likely to be blocked by 'gunge'- a mix of powder and conditioner. The whole of the tray, particularly this pipe and the bit which fits over it, must be completely clean and clear for it to operate correctly. It is worthwhile checking fairly regularly.

(If this isn't the problem it could be that the water dispensing is not working correctly. It is easy to check by selecting (final?) rinse, pulling the drawer slightly out and seeing and hearing whether water is being fed into the softener tray. If is isn't then it is a call-out)

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

The bleach doesn,t empty out. Both it and the fabric softener stay full of water.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
This is a common problem with many machines.
I suspect that it is the conditioner/softener tray which needs a thorough clean,
paying particular attention to the sentences in BOLD ;-0)
-------------------------------------
Remove the complete drawer. To do this you will have to do one of the following-
  • Top catch- push down the lip/catch at the middle rear and pull the drawer out (that's how our Bosch one is removed)
  • release the catches underneath (our daughter's Indesit) or
  • lift upwards on the tray as it is coming out to clear the lip underneath.
Once out identify which tray is for the conditioner- the others are simply 'chutes' and open-ended.

Hi I own a Defy Automaid 600 and has never used fabric softener before. How do I go about

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
It's very easy- you pour it into the conditioner tray before you start the washer- like the detergent/powder- and (normally) the washer directs water into the softener tray on the (final) rinse.
A quick and easy way to find out which tray is which is to pull the detergent drawer out just so that you can see into it. Start a pre-wash (pre-wash detergent) and see where the water runs in, then advance to the main wash (main wash detergent) and observe. Finally start a rinse cycle and where the water goes in is where the conditioner/softener goes.
In a few cases I have come across, the pre-wash tray shares with the conditioner/softener part but the pre-wash powder goes in the front and the softener in the back.
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

My washing machine is not accepting the fabric conditioner! ive cleaned the tray and checked for blockages and there doesnt seem to be anything stopping it from flowing.

Please do not take this the wrong way but although you have cleaned the tray I still suspect that it needs another clean,

Fabric conditioner stays in the dispenser tray

the holes above the fabric softener tray that shower into it may be blocked. use an upturned washing up brush to scrub them with a little fairy liquid and see if that works, it does for me. also could be a water pressure issue.

Fabric softner

Remove the dispenser tray. Inspect the area just above the fabric softener portion of the dispenser. There should be a series of holes where water feeds into the tray during the rinse cycle. Sometimes these holes become clogged with fabric softener residue. If the holes are clogged, water will never dispense the fabric softener out and it will stay in the tray. If you take some cotton swabs and meticulously clean all the holes out, I bet your problem will go away. Let me know if this was helpful to you.
