Is there a way to add more than 50 contacts to my phone?
Sorry, the KX-TGA242 is limited to 50 contacts in its internal phonebook.

From the main phone, press PROG **1234 and dial 004. Press ENTER 2 times (watch out, it moves on the display) and you will be looking at 101 : OPERATOR if it's still unprogrammed. Keep pressing NEXT until you get to the one you want to change and use a combination of the keypad and the AUTO ANS button to spell out the new name. The STORE button saves it, the right arrow and clear button step back and forth on the line you're entering.
You can pick up the handset and drop it back into the cradle when you're done to exit.

STEP1:
On the handset you want to discard go to "SETTINGS HS" -> "REGISTRATION" -> "CANCEL BS"
This will discard the registration of the handset to any base.
STEP2:
Using the handset you want to register go to "SETTINGS HS" -> "REGISTRATION" -> "REGISTER HS"and select
the base you want (i.e. BASE 1, BASE 2, ..., BASE n).
NOTE:If you do not get access to the BASE you are looking for (STEP 2) then you have to cancel the registration of the new handset to any base. Therefore, follow STEP1 for this handset as well and then follow STEP 2.
After you finish all the above, hold down the "PAGE" button for about 5 secs.
You are now done!!!

The closest that I could find was kx-tg1031. Perhaps you will have better results. All of these are in english.

If you are using this phone on a Panasonic KX-TDA 30/100/200/600 system. From the Switcboard / Main telephone or Managers phone with the handset on the cradle/hook press Program * * or Program * # followed by the system password ( default is 1234). Now press 004 and then ENTER. Enter the extension number you want to change. Now enter the name (the same way as texting on a cellphone) To save the changes press AUTO DIAL / STORE. To go to the next extension press NEXT on the screen. When you are done lift the handset and put it down to exit program mode.
